I have just bought '98 galant VRG GDI (Automatic). When I turn on ignition the engine revs up to 4k revs and the same while i driving too. should be changing at about 2500 revs??? I have no clue about engines, so any help would be apprieciated. Cheers!

the idle never goes down? after a start try a short rev and see if the idle drops. i had a similar problem and it ended up being a vacuum leak. doesnt sound like you're going to have the same but it is a starting point.
