after listening to mr. emc here is what i found.

" RECALL

Note, on 3000GT VR4s, the viscous coupler unit, an integral part of the transfer-case has a tendency to develop small leaks. If depleted of fluid, the system will lock-up and cause all four wheels to lock. There is absolutely no warning and the problem is frighteningly common. If this happens at highway speeds, it could obviously be fatal. Imagine your brake system doing so but without yielding or brake fade.

The system will not unlock without repair, so if it does lock on you, it is impossible to even drive home (assuming it did not cause an accident in the first place). Even Mitsubishi, which is notoriously bad for ignoring problems such as this, acquiesced and issued a recall. The dealer will inspect your transfer-case and repair it or replace it for free. Please have your VIN number ready and contact your dealer (or the nearest Dodge or Mitsubishi dealership) immediately if you own a VR4 or Turbo Stealth and have not done so already. This problem does not affect front wheel drive (all US non-turbo) 3000GTs. "

When you say Mitsubishi can inspect transfer case and repair or replace...does this count for the GTO as well... i know basically same car just wondering if the same deal is in place with the japanese model?

I dynoed one stock and made 286 AWHP so I dunno.

Yes the first time it is totally free from then on they will only charge you an inspection fee IF the T-case is not bad.

And all GTO's VR4's. and Stealth TT's are covered.

No, no matter how many miles even if the year is 4083 yes 4083, as long as mitsubishi is still around they MUST honor this recall.

hello i was wondering if there's a good way to ensure ur transfer case isnt leakin without takin it to the dealership. is it very noticable? also if your suspension was to fail to you have to keep the active suspension or is there a viable mod you can replace with? thanks

This is a question about what was said earlier on this topic by EMC i think?

This was on the comment about the driving like a FWD car. I get the point your getting across but i was wondering more details about this or if there was a bit of exaggeration on that? Like i understand if dump the clutch over and over its going to cost you. But what about like from 1st to 2nd shift or 2nd to 3rd shift... are you able to shift a bit harder and take it through its paces or are you going to have to be gentle with that as well?

Like what kind of strength does the drivetrain etc. have?

*And i dont mean slamming gears and driving like an ***** shifting.. i mean like a good hard run going through the gears*

Might be a dumb question but any info would be helpful on what to expect from my GTO when it gets here

When you shift hard dump the clutch or launch something has to relieve the stress that action just caused.

Most of the time you clutch will take the brunt of that. And often on FWD cars the front tires will break loose and relieve the stress.

On AWD the wheel (most likely) will not break loose on a hard shift. SO your clutch takes the force and transmits it to the driveshaft - rear diff- tires.

*** bends this is bad. You have a rotating assembly and the part doing the rotating is forcing everything to go just as quickly and stuff just breaks.

If you drive like F&F all the time you are going to be replacing things alot sooner.

I don't know how to explain this.

Maybe I'll take a video of me driving the right way and the wrong way.

All I'm trying to say is that your clutch only has so many launches in it. Once thats upgrades other parts could fail due to the clutch not adsorbing as much as it used to.

yes i know exactly what your saying. The FWD and RWD cars tires break loose relieving the stress you could say but the AWD would hook up better obviously but have greater stress when dropped or shifted hard.

You dont have to go through the trouble of making movies if this would be too inconvienent for you. But if got some time maybe would explain.

I just want to know how hard you can drive without breaking things? again.. only with moderation*
