I have a 1994 Montero and the digital compass works intermittently, one day it just stays blank (lights up but does not display any info) and then suddenly it comes on and works perfectly. Is this a symptom of a bad compass or possibly a bad connection? I hate to spend 75-100$ for a replacement compass and still have the same issue. Any thoughts?

I've read about this problem in this forum but have not had myself as I have a MMCS digital system. I think the problem is in a poor electrical connection in the comapss but you need to disassemble which is a bit of a trick. Try searching on this to see what you come up with.

I found plenty of posts on resetting the compass but not many on actually replacing or repairing the compass. Most others were on changing the bulbs.

I have a 1992 Pajero with a dead Compass/Temp display. It has light but no info. The shop here in Baguio City (Philippines) pulled it but couldn't get it to work. They didn't have a replacement and since the numbers on mine (Japanese grey market) didn't match the numbers in their parts book, didn't want to order a new one since it might not fit.

I simply need one that will fit my Pajero and work. I don't much care what market it was originally intended for. Anyone know where I can buy a funtional unit (in the States or Japan) online? I will get it shipped to the Philippines through a friend (if in the US). Any pointers will be much appreciated.
