I recently put a K&N Pod filter in my evo 5, it only JUST fits in place, its a flat head cone shaped filter, and the top of it were the hole is, is almost completly covered by the fuse box since it pressed up against it...
I kinda figure this is bad, and am thinking maybe a mushroom shaped filter would fitt better ?

What brand should i look for. Price not realy an obstacle just availablity... New Zealand cant get blitz without overseas ordering :(

Snap a pic of your engine bay. I'm almost positive it will fit with minor modification.

Ah no need now, i found one that will fit 100%
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=145353600
just hope i can sell my old K&N ... place who sold it to me said it would fit lol and well... it does, but the airflow meter presses against the pipe that comes off the blowoff valuve (presses realy hard because the pod is to big its kinda bent the pipe around to make it fitt, and obveously thats not good ahaha).

So hopefully this new one fits good :)

Oh also, what kind of sound do the HKS mushroom shape filter make? My current one make a loud air sucking sound, and has made the blowoff valuve louder ( i think thats what its done, im a noob lol)
Will the mushroom one sound the same? or sound like a "Flutter"

All open element filters will ne louder. Think of the restriction you're opening up.

I ended up buying an HKS mushroomshaped filter. I was VERY suprised to find that it also came with a brace, that actualy mounted to pre-cut holes in the body of the evo!!!

VERY VERY nice filter.
Cheers for the direction :)
