Hey,
I've been having this problem with my 2001 Ei Verada. It has the 4 speed gear box in it.
Every time when I'm driving on the hwy doing 100km/h in 4th gear and need to slow down to say 80km/h then speed up again to 100km/h, when it kicks down from 4th-3rd it makes this horrible clunk. It gets worse depending on going up hill or heavy load.
I heard from a mechanic that works at Mitsubishi that the ECU may need re programming or something along those lines.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and was it expensive to be fixed?

kick down so I asume it is an automatic

the ECU and TCU to reprogramme
undo battery terminals and re attach

the ECU is behind the passengerside kick board
the TCU is under the gear changer console

you can buy these computer controllers
second hand from a wrecker and fit yourself

you can search in these aussie forums for more info
http://www.mitsubishiclubaustralia.com/
http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/

The throttle position sensor may need checking

a service of the auto will help
have the overdrive clutch looked at
