Hi Guys,

Last year I purchased a 1999 Eclipse for about 9 grand. Drove the car for about a year without any severe problems. At the end of September the Canadian Government sent me a letter saying my car was written off in the United States and that I could no longer drive it as it appeared to have flood damage. The car was never in a flood. I tried to contact the dealer, but he's gone now. I honestly believe the owner in the united states lied to insurance, to get a new car. Either way, the cars VIN shows flood damage... so I can't really win.

So as it stands, I have one of the cleanest Mitsubishi Eclipses on the road today. It has about 140000 Kms on it. According to the Canadian government, I can never drive the car on canadian roads again, but I can sell parts off the car or use it only on the track. Is there any States that still allow vehicles with flood history?

I want to sell the car as a parts car. I dont want to part it out. i'm exhausted and I want to move on. I have a 1999 10th Anniversary Edition. So basically, Leather, OZ wheels, power everything.

Let me know what you guys think it would be worth. Once again, I am not going to part it out myself. I want to sell the entire car as a parts car. The car is flawless. I repeat flawless.

Apparently Canadian government sucks. Check kbb.com for the value. What color is it?

9000 Canadian divided by 1.5 equals $6000 American. I don't know of anywhere in the US that you cant drive a flood car. I know in Pennsylvania if the dealer you bought the car from doesn't disclose that it has a branded (IE. flood car, reconstruction, salvage etc.) title it doesn't matter how long you have had the car you can return it and get full purchase price back for the car. If you have the original US title it should have a line on it somewhere saying if it has any brands on the title. if that line is empty i would take it to your department of transportation with that letter and show that it wasn't in a flood.

I'm trying to track the dealer down right now. But I'm seeing my other options too. Since I'm in Canada, can anyone recommend a good place to place a classified in the United States? How much do you think I can get for a vehicle with these conditions?

craigslist.com or Ebay.

Also, there has to be some sort of law about that. If it had a clean title when you bought it it should be ok. Talk to your insurance company?

apparently the dealer used fraudulent documents to get a clean title when i bought the car. insurance doesn't cover that kind of stuff. i dont have insurance for it anymore, no use paying insurance for a car you can never drive.

You should beable to fight it, take it to your insurance agency and talk to them about it....

There is no reason for them to do this.... I know with my talon, I imported it form the states and i got a letter from them a few weeks later saying that my car could be taken away at anytime because it was totalled and repaired in the states.... there are many things you should beable to do... Talk to one of the local gov resource workers to.....

Just tell them it wasn't a flood, the person before you drove it into their pool.
