You are right... I would say a cracked/warped head or leaky headgasket.

It shouldn't be warped unless it blew because it got really hot.

I say head gasket as well. It shouldn't be warped unless it blew because it got really hot. Kinda sux since you just had it rebuilt not long ago, but while you're in there, might as well put a new timing belt unless you want to tear it down again in 20,000 mi. (I'm just lazy like that.) Some good head studs wouldn't hurt either, expecially if they are still the stock ones.

DSMparts.com is running a specail on an ARP headgasket and studs for like $180 if you are interested:

ARP DSM HeadStuds + 4 Layer DSM Metal Headgasket

Ran accross that while pricing kevlar timing belts.

350 for a head? I dunno... A new stock head is around $1200... Staged heads are progessively more expensive.

well i think im gunna build it up a lil while its apart, i got a stock turbo set up on it but a fuel rail and bigger injectors, manual boost controller, exaust.... most bolt on mods, i was wondering if i can bolt a t3/t4 turbo and aftermarket header and maybe a bigger fmic on there without anyproblems? im kinda new to the whole turbo scene. one of my friends said that i could have a bad seal in the turbo and it could be 2 problems since theres oil in the header. ill post some pics on here too tomarrow.

it was used with high mileage but came out of a totally stock car... and i was also wondering (might sound stupid and is a total newbie question) will the 1g head work on the 2g or does it have to be a 2g? i thought ive heard of ppl putting a 2g on a 1g motor for better porting?
