evo is on the ban list. All you could do is have 1 for show/dealer/register in the US(family, friend) and drive it over here.

You can easly get an evo here by shipping it. THe problem is that you cannot get it registered to your name except for a race-car only or show-only vehicle. you also wont be able to get insurance for it.

What if he was to register it in the US and get insurance in one of the states, would he be able to drive to canada w/ his US plates? Cause I'm guessin' you're in then you're good. If you get pulled over you can always say you're visiting from whichever country you got your registration.

Kick me of I'm wrong .....

well i dont know ..... perhaps we can do the way as you mentioned it ....
i really want to buy an EVO 7 just dont know how to get it ....
somehow i have been thinking shipping it to Canada from UK ....
i will buy a second hand one which might cost $11,000UK which cost $24444.44Cdn
$24444.44 + shipping cost let's say the shipping cost like 6000 = $30444 <----
it is still cheap though comparing to shipping it from Japan ....
oh well i'm just guessing the maximum price i would've pay ...
if someone knew any more informations than i do
please post your knowlegde in here or personal msg to me
thank you

you won't be able to import an evo from the UK either, if any car is not intended for the domestic market (North America) you can not import it unless it is 15 years old to the month of manufacture.

This applies to Canada

Maybe that will work

You should buy a stock accidented lancer in canada
buy an accidented evo IIV in usa for parts

Rebuilt it as a Lancer ES or Oz-rally but it will be an EVO

Like a previous post said you cannot register or insure an EVO in Canada. They almost brought the EVO IX to canada but Mitsubishi needs to make one mod. I guess in Canada we have a crash test that takes place at 8km/h. During this test if the vehicle sustains ANY damage then it does not meet Canadian safety standards. From what I'm told by dealers, the intercooler is too close to the front of the car and it CAN actually be damaged even going 8km/h. In the U.S the tests are not quite as demanding. So until Mitsubishi adds some more protection to that front bumper...we're stuck with our Ralliarts and OZ's.

The Mitsubishi Evolution X is coming to Canada in Febuary 2008.
It sucks that the wait is so long but if that's the car for you then the wait is going to be well worth it!

For now I would agree with some of what the others are saying, you can buy the OZ Rally and upgrade the engine and body style.

The only Evo they sold in Canada is the Evo 8, but that was only for about three months. I have only seen 2 plus one that a guy i know owns in the Surrey area.
