okay on saturday i installed my stainless steel 4-2-1 headers and nonturbo cat resonator pipe. it is now connected to the 3inch megan racing stainless steel exhaust i have on it now, and i must say that i noticed a GOOD gain in power in the 4-5k range. i noticed a excellent sound, and my acceleration was quicker once i hopped on 3rd gear.

i purchased the headers and cat resonator pipe on ebay and in total costed me 120 for both parts and shipping....

i think i got a great deal and if anyone's questioning ebay let me be the one to say that everythings legit and these products weren't steel, just painted chrome....

just thought id share my good weekend with people...

peace

glad you got a good exhaust, it completely changes your car. (kinda like rims)

i got my exhaust a few weeks ago (downpipe, resignater and high flow muffler, all with stainless steel) for 100 bucks from a guy in tampa and its amazing.

the feel of new mods always makes you smile.

i am going to put new pictures up when the weather breaks and i order a few new parts.

i need a new k&n filter and also new strut bars from megan racing and my red valve cover and nkg red wires and iridium plugs.

but the best part is my headers appear to be titanium, actually a burnt titanium after they heated up. i love it. and i guess 20 hp from the headers and cat can make a difference. :)

yeah...long **** story.

but if you want to know i'll be happy to share.

okay so i talked to my mechanic and i wanted to get the apexi n1 non turbo exhaust system originally. so we talked it over and he ordered the exhaust, and he took my car and went to throw it on. but he ran into a problem because the pipe would not fit underneath the back cross member, so he did not use the n-1 and instead he had a brand new megan racing stainless steel 3 inch turbo cat-back exhaust that some person was going to install on his 240sx. and yes this is from a nissan 240sx. lol so he measured up the exhaust and it met to the cat, and now i have a megan racing 3inch turbo exhaust from a nissan 240sx.

so it is a better product cause i was told the apexi n1 is not stainless, but ceramic coated. just the muffler is stainless. so i got a better product with more power for less money.

The only problem is that 3 inch exhausts are meant for turbo cars. The nt should have a 2.5 inch.

yeah i know, but it all worked out for me, and it saved me a little bit of money cause the apexi was around 500. the megan racing was around 300

still it is a great product, whether it's turbo or non tubo made for the car

The thing is, you lost power with the 3 inch piece.

are you looking for the headers? if so im sure they stopped selling them.....poke around. what year make and model?

second 4-2-1 headers come: header, downpipe, intermediate pipe.

third 4-1 headers go: header, downpipe, which i believe is for turbo's

fourth im gona say the more gas thats being pushed out of the engine and out the exhaus causes more power? correct me if im wrong but i think its common sense if you get a turbo your going to need a bigger pipe to get more gas out to produce more power.

Yep, the turbo gave more flow air. but the turbo gave less flow air. Since, you dont have the turbo and you have the 3 inch pipes. The bigger pipe make more less flow air + loss hp. Am I right?

No no and no.

4-1 goes --> individual tube/exhaust header to downpipe (sorta)

4-2-1 goes --> individual tube/exhuast header to 2 intermediate pipes (1 for 2 pipes), then the 2 intermediate pipes to downpipe

Literally they mean how the exhaust configuration go, so 4-1 goes from individual header to DP, 4-2-1 goes 4 individual headers, which merge into 2 pipe, into DP

This is a 4-1 header as you can see each cylinder has a tube which then dumps into a single pipe that goes back to the cat and muffler

(IMG:http://www.theoldone.com/components/headers/hytech/HyTech%204-1%202.jpg)

This is a 4-2-1 which goes 4 pipes into two and then into one which then exits to the cat and muffler.

Which is the better? 4-2-1 or 4-1 header? Thanks.

mine is:

the header that bolts onto the head is 4 tubed connected to a flange. next is the 2 pipes coming together at the other flange to make one pipe, followed by thr 1 intermediate pipe which takes the place of the flex pipe.

i think i made it clearer for that one dude, my fault :)
