Should i get an '06 Eclipse GT? I found one pretty close to me with 45k miles for $14.6k and i freaking love the way it looks, and i want to go test drive it soon, but i really want some owner opinions on this...does everyone like it/love it or do you have problems or what? cause if i don't get this then i'm looking at either an 05 Dodge SRT-4, an 02 WRX, an '04 Mustang, or the '08 Lancer(i'd have to get that *** stock though just so i could afford it). you could keep in mind that i'm 18, paying for it myself, and i'm going to be starting a new job in a couple weeks, 5 hours a day 5 days a week (until summer, when ill be going full or close to full time) for $11+ an hour so im also wondering if payments + insurance would be crazy or anything. If you can help, please do, i've been on an SRT-4 forum and they haven't given me anything so i'm counting on you guys.

Well I love my 06 Eclipse and wouldn't trade it in for the world! It all depends on you, do you have any tickets? Have you been in any accidents? Will you parents help out if you get in sticky situation? If all of these are ok, then GO FOR IT MAN!! You will not regret it. As for the car payment, it all depends on who you get to finace it, if you can get it done at a credit union, you will be good to go. They usually offer the lowest interest rate. Keep me posted and if you do get it, SEND PICS FOR ALL OF US TO SEE.

I love my 06 as well. Unlike trayluv73 though I wouldn't mind trading it on an 09 GT SE though once they are released :D. The first thing you need to do though is take it for a test drive. As for the price of $14.6k, I don't know about there but here that car with a clean history would retail base with no options (you didn't specify what was in or anything) for just over $18k with an auto trans. As for major problems, the only major problem I have had with mine is after 32000 miles I burnt my clutch up. I guess thats what happens when your always on it racing people because they want to go for it :D.

When it comes down to the list of cars you said you would look at it all depends on what you want the car for. If you want performance, the eclipse GTs put more HP to the wheels then a stock mustang GT with the 4.6L V8 and have close to the same quarter mile times. The WRX is awd but unless you get an STI (came to the states in late 03 if my memory serves me correctly) has less power and torque. An 08 lancer ES might look nice but is (I think) a 2.4L 4cyl and doesn't come close to comparing. And finally the dodge SRT-4 is a nice car 2.4l 4cyl again but has a lot of potential.

Not trying to scare you off or anything but if you buy a 06 GT watch yourself. Compared to that 02 GP GT that your bio says you drive now its not going to be the same and the potential of doing something to get you caught is greater. After I got mine in 05 there were I don't know how many times i was cruising down the highway not paying attention to my speed and I would look down and I would be doing 90. 3000 RPMs in 6th gear it just goes and you don't realize it.

Its a "2" year old car that costs between 25 - 30k pending on the options I can see it. my car clean retail value with 32000 miles base with the 6speed is $17925 in my area. With 45000 miles it only goes down to $17.5. That is one of the main reasons one of my first comments about it was take it for a drive and see what kind of condition it is in.

the car is in amazing condition. its previous owner was a 50 year old man that traveled for his work and that's why there are so many miles. i test drove it yesterday and it is completely awesome. i should have it in my driveway this upcoming weekend. oh, and the reason the price is so low is because it's been on the lot for 2 and a half months and they want to get rid of it, but it looks and rides amazingly

My bad, I definitely read everything wrong. I thought you said that that car NEW near you would retail for around 18k. I guess I should stop posting at 2am

I was driving 36 miles one way to work. thats 72 miles a day, 360 miles a week, approx. 1450 miles a month not counting anywhere else i went. I took to NC from here in Pa 4 times averaging 1500 miles a time which is approx. another 6000 miles. Ive owned the car since July of 05 so you can see why i have 32000 miles on my car.

same here... i bought my GT in late '05 and i drive 35 miles each way to work.... i think i have about 45k on mine.... several road trips on top of my work mileage.

but if you haven't already bought it, id say go for it. i love my GT. only problem i've had was the service engine soon light came on, but it was a factory recall that the dealer fixed free. other than that it runs great, and it's got pretty impressive power out of a V6.
