Ok this is actually the first time I've used a forum looking for help so I'm kind of new to this, but I really need some advice/answers.

Around 4 months ago I bought a 1996 te Magna (4 cyl/man) because I needed a car that was more efficient on fuel. Anyway, My problem is that 2 weeks after buying the car my clutch 'went'. I replaced it and it set me back $650, and apparently that was cheap. But the mechanics seemed to ignore what I was telling them.

I was told on a second inspection(when the car played up again)I'd also need to replace the slave cylinder, I've bought that part but I think it is something else. Even when the clutch was new 2nd and 5th gear would be troublesome to get into and would grind often.

What are your thoughts on this, should I just take the advice of the mechanic and replace the slave cylinder (and now the clutch again) and try that out, replace the whole gearbox or what? I really don't have the money to mess around with, so I'd rather not take chances.

PS: my driving style is fine thank you :P, I've never broken a clutch before now. Just for you smart-alecs.

the syncros give trouble is a comon problem

and are made of some ceramic type material

to get the kit from japan is around $400

In australia through hyundai
none are listed in stock nationally (march 2008)

you may be able to buy a s/hand gearbox from a wrecker
for under 400 with a 3 month warrenty

as for the clutch and slave ... I didnt see tthe old parts

find a supplier for the TE synco kit then wait

download 3nd gen and search for gearbox

downloadable manual http://www.lisho.net/?page_id=3

if you cant save the 3rd gen info onto a CD
thne use the 2nd gen as a reference only
