My daughter just bought a 2004 Endeavor with 24,000 miles that was previously owned by the white haired little old lady. She was not expecting super great gas mileage, but under 20 on the highway (using premium fuel and not towing anything) is pretty poor. She heard from a friend about a "chip" that would boost mileage by up to 5 mpg.

I have found "performance chips" that appear to boost HP/torque and ultimately reduce mileage. Are there some that will improve the mileage (yes, at the expense of reduced acceleration and power)? The vehicle seems to have well more than adequate power.

Any words of wisdom or experience with improving fuel mileage?

Thanks

Throw in a K&N air filter. The existing might be clogged.

Also try searching the forum. There are plenty of tips for gas mileage. Another one is tire pressure.

I'd say 20 is about avg. for the endy on hwy as stated. I haven't seen/heard of any brand name chips for the endy yet, so I wouldn't jump on buying one yet as it might just waste your money. There's not much you can do except maybe add a K&N filter and fuel/gas treatment as recommended in the owner's manual.
