so annoyed. heaps of blow by coming out of top breather (into air filter). bit smokey and i hoped a service and new air filter might fix the problem. local guy checked it over and says far too much blowby out of breather and most likely the rings on the way out. truck has heaps of grunt though (no issues going up hills in 5th).. anything else i could be checking out first???? so annoying if it is rings as i'm looking at huge $ to repair... and i only bought the ute a few weeks ago. :crying:

My MF Triton ute is the same. Heaps of blowby from the breather tube and oil filler when the cap's off. Compression test showed above 170psi, so still has high compression, though the blowby shows the wear. Mine goes great up hills, too, I never even change back, just leave it in 5th gear, and throttle on and it accelerates up hills. Don't know why these things go so well even when they're worn out. Great little engine.

everyone rubbishes the engines over here... many people warned me not to get one but i'm with you... reckon they must be pretty strong to be keeping on chugging despite all that blow-by!
