Hello to all. New to this list and new to owning a Colt. Hope you folks can help me out..............................
As I said, I just bought a Colt, 1994, with the 1.5 - 12 valve engine. Only 184,000 kms (115,000 miles). Vehicle is in very good shape and has been treated well over the years. I do have a few questions if I may ask as I have never had a Mitsubishi product before.
How many miles can one expect out of these engines? I fully realize it can vary depending on maintenace and type of driving, but if you can chime in that would be great. The car runs very well but there is an issue. The idle seems to be slow in coming back down to where it needs to be. So, in neutral, tap the accelerator pedal, engine rpm's go up to say 2,500, release the accelerator pedal. Idle heads down to maybe 1,400 rpm and gets stuck there for several seconds. Eventually, within 5 or 6 seconds, the idle comes right down to a more normal rpm (900 rpm give or take a little). Can anyone shed some light on why it takes so long for the idle to get down to where it should be. The high idle issue is also apparant when you are driving and shifting up through the gears. Pretty much every shift is followed by lurching as the idle speed does not come down to where it should be in between shifts. Anything I should keep my eye on with this model?? Many thanks cc
