Same here, but I passed since I knew I would be keeping the car in tip top shape on my own.

When I was removing my front licence plate frame to put on a smoked cover, I noticed that I had an indentation from a rock chip on my front bumper, just below the left headlight.  I could handle the paint chips and hairline scratches, but this...

you wouldnt think a rock would dent it. man thats stinks.

I'll post a picture when i get around to it but there was something that came off the car in front of me (number plate i believe, it was yellow and oblong shaped) and smacked my front bumper. Now there's an dent in it....

This isn't the luckiest car i've had.

Especially because i found blood on the handle at the dealer when i was to be delivered...

On a white car, it really stood out.

ok so...
i picked up my car after it was repainted for the second time. they installed protective film. everything looked fine from far, paint colors matched this time...but i got so mad when i inspected the paint closely!
Right side is fine, however on the left side they somehow chipped off 1/2inch by 1/4inch of clear coat. maybe they screwed it up while polishing.....looks like i will need to drop it off to get it repainted again next week.
grrr, just makes me angry to drive 20 miles to the dealer...

I have noticed the terrible paint just recently. Where I live they are doing major road work and there are pebbles and rocks EVERYWHERE. It sounds and feels like you are driving through gravel and you hear your car just get nicked and dinged. I look at the side skirts as I knew this is where most people were having trouble with the paint the most and I have these little yellow scratches that really annoy me. I was actually thinking of just getting a whole new paint job so I could get better paint on and switching from red to black. The only reason I don't really want to do this is because I do not know how much it costs and I know paint jobs are very costly.

Anyone know the price to repaint the whole car with good, long lasting paint?

Damn paint.... sucks to be mitsubishi... my first and last mitsubishi car I'm gonna own. I just might happen to drive on a icey road one day in a blizzard and "accidentally" drive into a telephone pole. maybe the 10,000 dollars worth of saftey features will be worth it after all. :gunsmilie:

I hear you guys about the paint, i got off work like last week and my holster rubbed against the car and now theres a big scratch where i rubbed against it. Not to mention the other 10-15 hairline scratches on the car just from driving back and forth to work.I'll be visiting the dealership this weekend about a new paint job and maybe a clear coat this time.

You know maybe there really was a bad batch. My driveway is 3/4 of a mile long and it rough dirt and loose rocks. A lot of the roads I drive on are not in the best of shape at all and so far after 1500 miles not a single chip and it still looks great. Maybe with more time I will start to notice them. Haha its bad when I am waiting for my car to start chipping huh. But I just take my time on the dirt roads when no one is behind me and when they are I just let them pass instead of driving 35mph. The car is still very new so you will be hearing from me for sure if mine starts to chip too.

my car has 12000km on it and theres rust in these areas from the chipping.. the guy at the dealership said its from the front wheels coming back to the front of the rear wheel wells( well in front of them at least)

honestly this is bullsh@# so my car just lost about an easy 3 grand in value then they expect you to buy mud flaps for their crappy paint.. just about every other brand of car has to drive our roads where ever you live but you dont see their paint looking like its been sand blasted.

thanks mitsubishi for cutting corners....

1. Repaint it
2. Apply 3M paint protection film on your skirt.
3. Install mud-flaps (Rally Armor)

eh! I was just looking at my car earlier and I saw one spot where paint chipped. It's on the very front-end edge of the hood where it meets the rubber line and the front bumper. Unfortunately the 3M protection film didn't cover the very front-end edge of the hood.

It's just a very small paint chip and can be repair with some touch-up paint.

Any recommendation where to get touch up paint?

It is very cost prohibitive to change the factory color of a vehicle. especially if you intend to do it right with high quality materials. Even the best jobs will still leave some signs that the vehicle was previously a different color.

Best thing you can do is install mud flaps and 3M protective film.

My car was keyed twice within the first month after I bought it. Luckily I have a good paint touch up guy. He did it for free and you cant even see the scratch unless youre two feet away from it.
