Pretty much a yes/no kind of question but I added "don't know" for those of you who are still buried in snow. Just want to get an idea of the number involved.

I can actually say that mine aren't. I've had my EB GTS since April 29th, 2007, and have 34,000 miles on it. The paint still seems fine. I am the only 'no' vote though...

I have only had my lancer for a week and I can already tell how cheap the paint is. This is diffenently a problem that mitsubishi should fix. I have had several other cars and none of them had as many chips in the paint as this new car. Most recently, My 05 Ford Ranger didn't have as many chips or scratches as this new car. I mean if your jacket hits the side of the car you will see a scratch its pathetic

I was about rdy to cut my losses and sell the car as soon as I saw how cheap the paint was, ecspecially in that area between rear door and rear wheel well. I just ordered mud guards and am going to take it in for a buffing after I get them on. See what that does. Just keep your fingers crossed for a mitsu recall on the paint (hah we wish)

just wondering... if the paint starts getting really bad would it be worth it to pay for a nice paint job that has strong paints that dont chip easily?

I would hate to see you spend YOUR hard earned $$ on something MITSU screwed up. Maybe a recall someday?? who knows. In the meantime, you could save some $$ an get the clear bra, or some guys have even talked about just adding another "clear coat" layer.

Either way shoud work, I spent 300$ on the bra, it's worth the money even though I feel resentful towards mitsu for spending it in the first place, lol

Voted 'no'. Goes through a dirt road with embedded stone debris two times a week. Paint is fine so far. I just make sure of slowing down when I drive through there.

I have a silver 08 GTS and I have had it since March 8th of this year. I dont notice ANY chips on the side skirts or back wheel well, but I do notice that this part of the car gets dirtier the fastest haha.

I DO have a chip on my front bumper, but it chipped to black....i think because bumpers are plastic or whatever and not metal. You cant notice it unless you look close so it doesnt bother me too much!

Watch the rear piece of your side skirts and the edge of the rear door sill.

Had my black GTS for about 3 months before mine started showing signs of paint wear. It almost looks like water spots or specks of dirt or grit in the paint, but under closer inspection it's actually tiny chips in the paint. It doesn't seem to be specific to any color.

My dealer offered to paint the side skirts for $125 but I think Mitsu should be fixing this mess. If they had incorporated a small deflector in the front wheel wells when they designed the car then the problem wouldn't exist. To date they don't even have a defelector (or mudflap) that fits the front of the GTS (dealer tried to tell me they could reverse the rear flaps and make them fit the front...yeah, right...that looked REAL nice...NOT!).

Rally Armour has some that are supposed to be coming out soon but their web page still says they're under development. Until then, if you don't have the problem yet then I'd suggest using a film or waxing the crap out of that area to protect it the best you can.

so... little chips that look like flakes on the paint is the sand blasting? if so i had this and the meguiar's scratch x got rid of it a good bit by blending the scratch back into the paint .

i had it on my front bumper and prob have it on my side skirts, haven't cleaned my car lately and just got into an accident so i can't really clean it.

i havent yet.. but since my car got keyed on the hood the insurance is paying for the whole hood and driver side fender to get it repainted. but if i start to see paint chips im repainting the thing i cannot stand for my lancer to anything else than perfect.. but until that happens im going to cross my fingures and pray for a recall...

They won't recall it unless its something manjor that could they could be sued for. I don't think there will be any help for the paint problem.

Might sound stupid, but having bad paint on a car, is of some what a distraction to other drivers and the driver of the car. If another driver saw that the car had sand blasted side panels then would look at that and be like..."How?... Its a new car." then !BAM! hits someone.

This means that you can sue Mitsubishi for making a great car with crappy paint.

Now, im 50% joking and 50% serious. Because there is that one person that will look at it and then get into an accident because they were looking at the bad paint on the car.

I know im going to get some crap on here, so please don't say anything that might offend me or others reading.

Our only hope would be a class action suit. Mitsu would most likely settle out of court for attorney fees, court and filing fees and new paint for all plaintiffs. It would be in their best interest if it saves them a bundle on attorney fees and damage control (marketing).

I'm seriously considering pursuing it. That's why I put the poll up, to see if the minimum plaintiff requirements could be met. Haven't had the time to deal with it lately but I do have a legal firm in mind that would probably take it on if the case looks solid and the money looks right.
