I didn't like the way my wipers went to continuous mode at 50 when they were set to any intermittent operation. So I asked the dealer to stop the speed sensor from messing with the wipers. He gladly did so, and at no cost.

But now the wipers only have one intermittent speed. Not too fast, not too slow. But the variable part is gone. Has my dealer screwed up or is this the price I pay to keep the speed from affecting the wipers? Any feedback is appreciated.

Maybe i misunderstood what you were saying but on my GTS I control whether or not the speed of the car effects the wiper speed. In my car it is just the first notch on the first setting that is effected by driving speed, if you put it at any other notch on the first setting (i believe 3 other notches) or the other 2 settings that they are not at all effected by the speed I am driving. It is only one of the many speed settings on the windshield wipers that is variable depending on how fast I am driving. I love this feature and with all the things Mitsu left out I'm surprised they threw in this nice little extra. I say if you dont want to use it, simply dont use it, there are many other settigns you can use without having the whole thing disconnected. To answer your question, I would say yes, its kind of what you get when you have them real quick go in and mess with wires in your car.

You have, like the vast majority of drivers here, a GTS. That could be the difference. I know, from the manual, that I could change this option for speed control through the NAV option. But I don't have that option on my ES. Sorry for not being more clear.

In a month or so I'm due to go back for my SECOND scheduled service visit. Seems the hills around here make my driving "severe". I figure that by the time I go for that service I may have almost 3,000 miles on the car. And all this "severe" driving cuts my average gas mileage down to 32mpg too. It's not the 120 miles that I put on the car for the service trip that bothers me, it's the stupidity of having to make the trip since they won't reset the computer for normal service intervals. I hope they will set the speed control back and not charge me $200 to do it.

^^^ That's what I was getting ready to say about the wipers.

Also, the dealership set up my system to call for 3 month 3000 mile oil changes instead of the rediculous 7500 mile interval that's the default.
