Hi all,

I just bought a new 2008 Lancer GTS and have a question about the steering wheel mounted audio controls. Is there any way to make them cycle through the FM presets rather than just seeking up / down? It works this way on my Mazda3 but was really disappointed that it doesn't do this on the Lancer.

Thanks!
Jay

They should have put a 'mute' button on the steering wheel. Would be great for ordering at the drive-thru and when important conversation comes up in the car.

I have the same question as Jayman, does anyone knows how to change the remote audio controls in radio mode from seek up and down to preset up and down? Thanks.

I'm assuming you guys don't have the MMCS/Navi package... because I do and mine cycles through my presets, not seek up/down.

Yes, I do not have MMCS navi since in my country(Turkey) this package can not be selected.(1.5L invite) I have some other questions about sound system:

1)Can both random and repeat play options in mp3 can be selected together?

2)While listening mp3 in random mode pressing next(or previous) button in steering wheel audio controls, my player does not choose randomly but continues with the next(or previous) track. Does it normal or do I have a problem with my player?

Thanks.

I've come to realize that only the US models come with the MMCS package. As for your other questions...

#1) It doesn't make much sense to have repeat and random simultaneously. Random is used so that the CD picks a random track to play rather than the next track in sequence. Repeat is used so that only that ONE track is continuously played over and over. It wouldn't make much sense to have a random song repeating :P

#2) I've noticed this in my car as well. It seems that when you hit the next track, it overrides the random function. So I guess it's normal... sucks though.

Thanks freakingwilly

Yep sorry I meant disc repeat for repeat, but I did not write clearly, so sorry, my bad. Can you adjust both d-repeat and random or d-random at the same time? I cant do.

So it does not randomly jump to next track so there is mostly nothing I can do about this problem.

If I could at least solve jumping through presets using steering wheel remote control bottons at radio mode I would really appreciate.

Thanks.

Buy a Mercedes or Volvo, they both have mute buttons albeit only on the deck and not on the steering!

No need to apologize my friend. To be honest, I don't have the standard deck that comes with the car. Unfortunately, you can't have the disc repeat and random functions on at the same time. When it's on disc repeat, the disc will play from start to finish, go back to the first track, and start over again. When it's on random, the disc will play random tracks until you either turn off your car or switch out the discs.

As for the steering wheel presets, that is most likely a ECU function and cannot be modified by yourself. If you had the MMCS package, you most likely could because the MMCS controls some base ECU functions. Your dealership should be able to help you on that one though.

We do have a mute button, it's just labeled "POWER" for some strange reason :)
