I have a 2002 eclipse gs. I recently replaced the motor. The crankshaft and camshaft code was popping up (0340, 0335). I tested both the sensors using a modis and the sensors work fine. When i reset the codes everything is fine but as soon as i start the car the 2 codes pop back up again. The car runs great but the codes just keep popping back up. Does my computer need to be relearned? do I need a new ECU?

My father called mitsubishi and they said i need a new ECU. they also said i have to change all of the security modules and all the keys. Hopfylly just changing the ECU will do the trick. They said this is a big problem on only the 2002's. Anyone else ever run into this?

if it is a problem on especially the 2002 don't you think there would be a recall for it? i would check and see if you missed the recall time for that. just type (2002 Eclipse GS recall) in your google search engine.

oh ok. hey if you need to replace the ecu just do it.
http://www.car-part.com
http://www.uneedapart.com
both are very good places to find tested used parts check them out and see if you want to buy a new ECU or a used one. also there is a chance that getting your ECU flashed could fix the problem so i would look into that, but i would ask the company that does the flashing if it would fix it before you had it done.

so i got a used computer last week and tried it out. Cr cranked but wouldn't start. Ran some tests. MIstubishi says you have to rplace the security module, key, and computer all at the same time to fix my check engine light problem.....hmmmmm think there tring to make some extra money. So me and my father tried to see what modules had power when the key was turned off and so forth. so iverriding the security module dosen't do ***. The computer doesn't shut off the fuel pump so we still have no clue whats up. The computer may have been bad so i sent it back and ordered another one from another company. If this computer doesn't work then i have no idea what the hell to do. I guess i have to shell out 1200 to et it fixed at another shop. my father said he never had to do that in the past 25yrs that he's owned his shop so we'll see what happens.

Any Mitsubishi techs on this site?
