Attached File  eclipsesound.WMV ( 1.03mb ) Number of downloads: 127
[attachmentid=6341]Eclipse GST 97 125,000
manual boost controller
greddy type rs BOV (venting to atmosphere)

When the turbo kicks in I hear the normal turbo spool sound that I should (nice whirrr/whistle) but when I give it more gas a higher pitched whirr sound kicks in that is not normal. this happens on two different known good rs-type bov's so I don't think it's that. it happens regardless of how loose or tight the nut on the bov is.

I pulled the inlet pipe off and didn't feel any play on the turbine, checked for cracks in the hose. i just replaced my air filter thinking that may resolve it but no go.

only thing i've had replaced on it in the past 6 months (since this started) is my ECU but I don't see how that could cause this although i'm open for suggestions.

Watch the video..what do you think?

sounds like yer turbo fins are scraping the housing wall. take off your intake and see if the turbine blades are worn.

it sounds like you got a pi$$ed off bird in your intake. it could be that with the amount of stress your putting on your turbo you could have some sort of bearing problem under high stress of the turbo. most likely when its working hardest trying to spool up from lower rpm to higher. do the two test that were posted before my reply. if its not those, your looking at some sort of lubrication problem with your ball bearings. and there isn't much you can do about that other than buy a new turbo.

the bird chirping sound you hear at the start of the video is actually birds chirping, the high pitch is a consistent noise

:offtopic: sorry, back to the issue. did you block off the BOV return pipe on the intake pipe? if you didn't that could be why it's louder, block it off and try it out.
