In this thread i'd like anyone who has upgraded any part of their car to post what they did and rate the upgrade from 1-10. this will serve as a guide to newbs and even help some of the others on here know what is good and what is just show.

I'll start with myself as an example

Full 3" exhaust and and downpipe- Rating 8
this really improved the sound of the car and got me up to boost faster, also increased the boost by about 2 or so PSI

Greddy BOV (2g) 7
a great upgrade from the stock 2g bov. impoved sound and holds boost better

Metal Intake/cone pipe rating 5, cone rating 9
the pipe is a 5 because i only saw looks in it, not really a noted performance in any way.
the cone intake is a 9. its a 9 on account of for 25 dollars i got a noted increase in throttle response and faster time to boost. for the money i'd say its the best upgrade i've done.

Kuhmo Ecsta Tires 8
the width (225) and grip of these tires impressed me. a marked increase in launch time from the stock tires. if you have trouble catching i'd strongly recommend these tires.

#1.I first got a muffler-2 1/4" inlet 3" outlet not a huge dif, just alittle better sound.    +3                                                                                          #2.I had my catalytic conv. removed, louder sound noticable increase in hp and torque.    +6                                                                                    #3. I got new wheels(8.5x 18) 45 series tire, now worse torque and hp(8.5 is too wide for 3g, I barely rub when I turn all the way) also dont get heavy-**** chrome wheels either, rolling mass will be affected, I did notice an increase in handling.      +2                                                                        #4 Next I got lowering springs the eibach pro kit and kyb-gr2 struts? better handling by far and not so "floaty" at higher speeds.  +7                            #5.I than did my most recent mod, intake. I noticed that it made my 3g louder, and a noticable increase in torque and horsepower, who doesn't love being loud, and you can actually hear the air rushing in to your intake manifold whereas before you couldn't. +9                                                                                                #6.solar bronze mirrored window tint. people cant see in my car and steal my shi_.+ priceless

Hey n00b, read the title! Go back to the 3g section.

3g parts won't work on these cars

1g CAS - rating 10. inexpensive and allows for more timing corrections.

1g BOV - rating 8. inexpensive. when crushed holds up to 30psi on any MHI turbo

Hard charge pipes - rating 7 - expensive unless you buy cheap ones or make your own but good idea to replace the soft OEM ones if you want to run high boost

Fuel injector clinic fuel injectors - rating 10 - great deals excellent customer service and have tons of choices

magnecor spark plug wires - rating 6 - good upgrade but expensive

treadstone performance 2g turbo manifold - rating 8 - price comparable and more tubular than OEM replacement but still cast so it holds the heat we want for turbo spooling

SBR 3" o2 housing with dump - rating 5 - expensive, noisy, but good upgrade

HKS 272 cams - rating 6 - expensive, rough idle, but good upgrade

Top ten upgrades after the tune up. Plugs wires included.

1: Intake - Injen, I've always like their products
2: BOV - Greddy Type RS - Its a recirc so it works great
3: Downpipe 3 inch - Stillen Got it used best exhaust mod possible
4: exhaust 3 inch - Thermal Research- Not a fan of the sound but is good
5: Data logger - Pocket palm - Easy to use, I like HHH better though.
6: 225 width or better tires. Love the Falken Anzenis
7: boost gauge - Autometer carbonlite w/peak hold. Accurate
8: boost controller - no name MBC
9: springs and matching struts/ or coilovers--- Tein ... enough said.
10: Ported Exhaust manifold - because the stock one sucks.

After that you really have to decide what you want your car to be able to do.

I wanted to put the clutch and flywheel on that list, but the one you pick should be based on step two. Same with injectors and fuel pump. and turbo and what not.

2. 1g BOV (uncrushed) 6 --> Holds boost better, but very quiet compared to stocker.
3. Turbo XS MBC 6.5 --> just as good as any other MBC
4. 14b and td05 mani *unknown* --> its not installed yet :P

DSM Link - rating 10 - kinda expensive but the cost is null compared to it's datalogging and tuning capabilities. downside, works only with EPROM. does not work with non-EPROM and non turbo
