QUOTE(SemperLancer @ May 8 2008, 06:09 AM) As someone who is doing the exact same thing today, I have a few of my own questions: Buying a manual GTS. I know torque will be low, but is it really really bad? I'm coming from a FWD V8 (Monte SS), and how different will the economy be? The GTS is the best sporty 4-banger I could find for 21k loaded. So essentially how is the MPG and the torque? How is the handling through corners? Torque isn't that low considering the size of the car. Remember, this engine isn't trying to move 3500+ lbs. down the road like a lot of cars. With the MT in the '09 GTS, the gearing seems on the low side so acceleration is more than adequate, even from the lower RPM ranges. The fuel economy will be considerably better than a V8, I'm getting 25-28 in town and 32+ MPG on the highway. Handling through corners is superb, the sport-tuned suspension and P215/45/18 tires see to that! :)

Exactly what I wanted to hear my man :) My baby's gonna be Octane Blue, or Black, hopefully. On the other hand, how much DO these cars weigh? I know they're pretty light due to a lack of sound deadening and light materials (See: Aluminum), but are they less than 3300? My wallet is taking a hit on this trade, but at 70$ to fill up and only have it last 240 miles, I can't keep it up. :P Did the math, and I'd average..3360$ a year on gas, filling up twice a week every month. And I'm sorry, but that's a bit insane.

QUOTE(Gilbert @ May 8 2008, 09:10 AM) Ok Well I'm obviosly new here. I dont really have a mitsubishi yet but I'm thinking about buying a new car and I'm considering the 09 lancer gts and there's no one better to talk to the mitsubishi owners right. I'm looking for something with a little more power/speed than my current car. I'd be willing to get a used car and I'd consider an older model, somthing that looks similar to the 09 gts. I've also conisdered a used Saturn Ion redline or Mazda 3. Does anybody have times for a stock gts? I need something thats going to travel well that will need little work and doesn't burn oil lol. If I can close to 30 mpg that would be fine. I currently get 32-34 highway but will give that up for more power. I currently have a 99 saturn sl2 and the only mods are injin cai, bored out stock throttle body and cheapo muffler. I also have a obx header thats not installed yet. 0-60 in 8-9 seconds 0-100 in god knows how long but it gets there. A good aftermarket would be good too. Any thoughts? opinions? links to pictures? Welcome! The 2008 and 2009 Lancers are the only ones that come in the body style you see now, so you may want to take that into mind before thinking about an "older" Lancer. As far as MPG goes, I'm unhappy to say it, but you might not be too satisfied with this car. The 2008 gets 23 MPG city and 28 or 29 highway... other users have been reporting higher MPG figures than these, but I have yet to achieve them (18 MPG city and about 23-26 highway). A stock GTS will do 0-60 mph in 7.7 seconds and the quarter mile in 16 seconds at 88.4 mph. Personally, I think the car really shines when it comes to handling. My car sticks to the pavement like glue in turns and I love it. There are plenty of aftermarket mods out now and several more on the way. Injen is the only company that makes a CAI at the moment and K&N are going to be releasing a SRI soon. Many people with Fujita SRI's have issues with running lean and getting the SES light so you may wish to think twice about them. Plenty of topics to read here and even more people willing to help and answer your questions... just as long as they haven't been asked before
