QUOTE(SemperLancer @ May 8 2008, 09:34 AM)
Exactly what I wanted to hear my man :) My baby's gonna be Octane Blue, or Black, hopefully. On the other hand, how much DO these cars weigh? I know they're pretty light due to a lack of sound deadening and light materials (See: Aluminum), but are they less than 3300? My wallet is taking a hit on this trade, but at 70$ to fill up and only have it last 240 miles, I can't keep it up. :P Did the math, and I'd average..3360$ a year on gas, filling up twice a week every month. And I'm sorry, but that's a bit insane.

My '09 GTS MT registration says it weights 2947 lbs. I have the black one (as pictured) but the blue one is sharp too. I hear you on the gas station pains... I traded in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee (thirsty 4.0 liter Inline 6) for my GTS. I was getting 15-17 MPG average, and it hurt. My GTS nearly doubles that if I drive easily. Also, maybe some people here are comparing the CVT GTS in acceleration. I thought the CVT was terribly sluggish, while the 5-spd manual seemed (to me at least) much quicker. My two cents... :)

Well its not advice to push the car to its limit when its still very new espcially before it reach 5000.After the 1st oil change it should be fine to drive pretty fast.
Keep one thing in mind, best if u dun push it to the limit unless its a Ralliart or Evo x engine :D

This is good for me to hear, also. I tend to get the revs kind of high before I shift.. I'm hoping that's not TOO bad for it. :P

Well some people has reported their 0-60 times on here.

I for 1 have been getting excellent mileage with the car. I normally get over 30mpg's for an entire tank. I can normally get anywhere from 32-38 or even better sometimes up & back to work. That's doing 55-65 on the highway. Around town for me has been no worse that the upper 20's.
There is also a thread on this.

You can do a bunch of mods right now. But within 6 months I am sure there will be a boat load more to do.

Never so far needed any additional oil.

My only problem buying used is that you never know what the guy before you did to it OR if that person maintained it properly.

Hey guys i just wanted to stop buy and talk with some owners of the Lancer. Right now i am thinking about selling my Mazda RX8 and buying a new Lancer Ralliart sometime within the next year to year and a half.

Now i know the car has not hit the streets yet, but i was still hoping to get some input.

First off the Mazda RX8 is a good car, great handling and balanced weight distribution, but it lacks power, which i knew before i bought the car(Ironically i bought it from a Mitsubishi dealership).

How do Lancers and EVO's handle, are they sporty like an RX8 or are they crap?

How is interior space and interior design overall appeal to you?

Insurance cost, i switched from a Mazda 3 to a Mazda RX8 and my insurance only went up $15 a month. I am 20 years old with no accidents or tickets so far.

Any info on trying to actually get the car. I read something about having to "order" one and i know that it took somebody i know 6 months to get their BMW which they ordered from BMW(built to their specifications i.e. sport packages, color etc). Would Mitsubishi need to do that for this car, how long would it take. I figured within the next year they would carry more of them on the lot.

I would like to hear some info about Mitsubishi itself, reliable car, warranty service etc. I bought my RX8 with 45,000 miles on it and the warranty is gone so i figured with it being a rotary engine and no warranty i had better get a new car.

Also i was wondering about this "hard drive", do you have to buy the Navigation system to get it? Also how big is the hard drive, and you burn songs to it permanently that you can listen to in your car(like on a computer).

Anyway i just learned about the new Lancer Ralliart today and i really hope i will be able to own one soon. I like that orange color that they displayed at the auto show.

Does the new Lancer or Evo come with ipod support(or does Mitsubishi sell anything after market). I was able to get an Ipod adapter for my RX8 for $150 from Mazda.

If you guys can chime in i would appreciate it, my current car is a Mazda RX8.

i own one, and personally i like the size of the interior. its going to be a massive change for you. they do sell the ipod connector for about the same price. there is much more to come for the lancers seeing as they are new and all. ive found a lot of little things here and there. they add up so far to make me wanna do it to my car. the new ralley art is going to be turbo so thats a plus. its marked to come out at about 25. thats about 10 less than the gsr. its up to you what you want to do and your personal likes and dislikes. 100 000 mile bumper to bumper and 60 000 trans and 2 year roadside i think

That can be eliminated by having dynamat installed in your car.  After i had mine installed, the car runs smooth and quiet so I would invest in it.

I am curious about the Dynamat. Where (on your car) did you have it installed? The engine noise is what bugs me the most. Can I ask the approx $?

Sounds like I have some research to do.

Let me tell you about your research. I did mine. I have been narrowing the field of view down since last year when I made the decision to get rid of my Jimmy. I narrowed it down to 7 models, all no more than $21K and all comparably equipped and about equal in MPG. Now, I narrowed it down to the following: Honda Civic EX-X or Si, Mitsu Lancer, Toyota Corolla and Matrix, Nissan Versa and the Mazda 3. I have test driven every one of these cars. I decided on the Lancer because after driving it I just fell in love. The only other cars that came close to the ride and drive were the Honda Civic Si and the Mazda 3. Again, the Lancer just blew them all away for me. I already know the color, Octane Blue, but I'm just waiting to drive a stick to see which tranny I like more. I was thoroughly impressed with the CVT that I drove. You could not feel it shift gears and the paddle shifters are fun on the GTS. However, I think I'm gonna like the stick more, but that's just me. Good luck in your hunt.

Oh yea, also, what other car gives you a 6 disc cd changer rockford fosgate sub and a sunroof for under $21K??

He15man, there is a thread about 2 down from this addressing the new ralliart. Next time, please read the forum posts before adding a new topic.

SimmoES, should combine this topic with the Ralliart Thread and maybe even post a "PINNED" thread on information for prospective Lancer buyers.

I hate to tell ya lonnie, but asking about a Ralliart car in the Ralliart section when the 09 Ralliart is not out yet is not very helpful. The only Ralliarts that are out are not out of the new design, so i asked the Lancer people about there.

Basically the equivalent of asking BMW Owners about the new M3 in the 2008 BMW 3 series section vs going to the M3 section(and this is all before the M3 came out).

Getting reviews on an old model does not help which is why i posted it here.

I bought the 09 Lancer GTS with s & s package. I haven't noticed any of the problems talked about in this forums. As a matter of fact, I am consistently getting 30+ mpg, which was surprising (50 miles per hour on secondary roads). The 2.4 liter engine is nice, quiet and has plenty of pickup. I got the CVT not the manual and I like it, although it's a personal preference. I didn't like the 08, the engine was noisier and not as responsive. Again, that's a personal observation. Good Luck!

Hello All...I'm new in this forum.
I'm planning to buy Lancer ES 5 speed, white, in a week or so, just waiting for my finance to get done. I'm a true Lancer fan...n I love the handling this car got...!!! havent driven08-09 lancer but the previous ones !!! 'll go an take a test drive this weekend. I'm used to steering on right side n stick shift with left hand, so i ws lil reluctant in buying a car with manual shift with right hand in US, i drove one n in 10-15 minutes started getting in....so m inclined towards manual shift. but still lil doubt, cuz i love to drive with one hand on steering n other on the stick(gear)..as ma right hand got more handling power than the left, may be psychological......any advice ??

I'm not sure about the diff between Lancer ES 08 and 09 model, technically it sounds same, just the year(model) difference. Is there any other differece which im missing, cuz '08 comes with 1000$ discount. Pls help !

Thanks in advance !!!

Hi everyone

Just curious what other cars did you guys consider about before buying your lancer?
I think probably honda civic is one of the biggest competitor of lancer. And the 09 toyota corrola looks nice too. Why did you guys pick lancer?

Thanks

If you scroll up to Post #52 you will see my laundry list of cars that I test drove. I drove the 09 Toyota Corrola and let me tell you that it has NOTHING on the new Lancer. If you consider the Corrola don't, and if you want to stay with Toyota, go with the Matrix, much more fun to drive and handles better than the Corrola too. The Lancer, with it's rally bred background, just seems to be better built in the drive train and handling area. The '09 Lancer GTS without a doubt out shines the Civic Si (though imo not by much), Toyota Corrola/Matrix (same chassis) and the Mazda 3 (unless you want the Grand Touring Pkg. which is nice btw). But that's all my own personal opinions. You really can't find the right car for yourself without test driving a few first.

I test drove a Corolla XRS and Matrix XRS, and have the opposite view. The Matrix is heavier (by ~400lbs) and noticeably more top heavy then the Corolla, for the same chassis/drivetrain. The Corolla handles much better, responds better, and is just better to drive.

Still bought the Lancer over the XRS, hands down.

I also drove a Mazda 3 and Civic. The civic I didn't like at all. The Mazda 3 was my top contender until I drove the Lancer, and I'd still recommend it to anyone looking for cars.

did you just drive the civic, or did you drive the Si as well, because the difference between the base model civics and the Si model are like night and day. The two I decided against was the Lancer and the Civic Si.
