Hey there I am not an expert on cars but I have some knowledge so I decided to change my broken power steering belt on my 93 magna, 4 cyl. The problem I have now is that the idle is completely out and it won’t idle or remain running without providing revs. The battery went flat after the belt broke because the alternator wasn't working so has this contributed? have read about the computers being a problem in this model but would like some feedback.

Any help would be good as I didn't remove many parts so hopefully I just forgot something. Thanks

Is the car EFI or Carby auto or manual

the computers dont like working with less than 11 volts

check the battery is good and over 12 volts

and the alternator regulator is charging above 13 volts

the computer regulates the revs via its sensors

if they are ok

reset the computer and go from there

Its an efi auto 4cyl, and I tried out a new battery but it didn't help. Where abouts is the computer and sensors located and how is it reset? Can I get hold of a manual via the internet?

the manual

downloadable manual http://www.lisho.net/?page_id=3
magna verada 4 cyl and V6

you need the second generation

the TCU is screwed to the floor under the radio

the ECU is above the passenegerside Kick panel at about glovebox level

reset is undoing the batery terminals and re attaching them

the rest of the information is in the manual for you
