Congratulations BulletMagnet

I finally found time to clean my car. even though it wasn't sunny out, i still think the pics came out nicely; maybe a little dark. so, without further ado:

It was actually this website that got me started on DSMs. I initially joined this forum to get help on the various problems that sprung up on my 1992 Galant. The more I read though, the more I started hearing about this mystical creature, the Eclipse GSX. I had no idea, at the time, that Mitsubishi even made an Eclipse in the early 90's. All i knew about was the Galant VR4, and that I wanted one.

Well, as fortune would have it, the Galant got t-boned, forcing me to seek out another car (I still have the Galant however, not sure what to do with it). I did my homework and, considering my budget, decided upon a turbo 1g Eclipse. However, school necessitated that I find a car quickly, and i was unable to find a turbo 1g fast enough, so I settled for a 1992 Eagle Talon 2.0L. While the Talon was faster than my Galant, and much better looking, I still felt like I wanted more.

Fate struck again though, when my Talon was hit by a city dump truck. This time, luck was on my side, though I didn't know it at the time. The Talon was drivable, and mechanically was in good condition, but the rear left quarter panel was toast, as was the bumper. Instead of buying the car from me, they let me keep it and reimbursed me for the damage: 2300 big ones. Of course im not spending 2300 on a n/t Talon, so i began browsing auto sites, just seeing what was out there. One day, a day I will never forget (i think it was in september some time), I discover a clean 1990 Eclipse GSX on craigslist for 3600. ****, I need $1300 fast, because THIS is my chance, and might be the only one i ever get. I turn to my brother, who would be delighted to have the Talon. I don't even have to bargain with him, and he takes the Talon for 1300.

The rest, as they say, is history. The day we went to look at the Eclipse, it was rainy as hell. Through all the mud and rain, I spotted the nose of a 1g protruding from a parking space. my heart jumped into my throat. We get closer and it becomes clear that this is the most magnificent vehicle i have ever laid eyes on. I knew only one thing: I wanted it.

So that turned out a little longer than I had planned, but that's how I got my car. As for mods, I cant be sure what exactly its got because I didn't mod it. I bought it with just about everything its got on it now. here's the good stuff:

1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

2.0L 4G63T with Manual transmission - both fully rebuilt 30,000 miles ago

Black on black exterior with gray leather interior - in good condition; no sun-roof, if that means anything to anyone.

Small 16g turbo - looked brand new when i bought the car. hey, im not complaining.

hard intercooler piping

Manual boost controller

aftermarket sidemount Intercooler - not sure what kind

greddy BOV - uncirculated when i bought the car, circulated shortly after.

Custom exhaust system - not loud, but still sounds good.

balance shaft removal

fuel pump rewired (possibly an aftermarket pump altogether)

Aftermarket clutch, no idea what kind. it is beastlike though; in a good way.

All-metal radiator - installed by yours truly. didn't like the plastic-ish one.

Shift knob from my Galant - it was a small knob, making the shift much shorter. plus, i like the familiar feel.

Head unit from my Galant - car was broken into last week, my alpine HU was stolen. it had a short anyway.

I think that about covers it for the mods. The car had some problems when I bought it: the radiator leaked, the power-steering pump leaked, both of which i replaced myself. The suspension is **** old and the front shocks creak, but I've gotten used to that. lastly, the front-left ball-joint boot is torn. I have the replacement and will get that out of the way as soon as the weather cooperates. I've got an aftermarket boost gauge that needs to go on as well, but I've been too busy lately to take care of that. And now, the interior looks all funky at night because I've got Mitsubishi stock-orange for all my gauges and dials, and Mitsubishi stock-green for my radio. oh well, that Galant head unit has an aux input port, which is nothing short of awesome. hook up my ipod and im jammin' all night long! unfortunately, the sound system is still stock, as far as i know, so it could sound better. but hey, the engine (which I like to say sounds like an airplane engine) is music enough to my ears.

Here are some photos of my GSX:
