Can anyone suggest areas to look.
I have just service the car new long life plugs new air filter new oil filter the car runs great until taking foot off accelerator when approaching junctions roundabouts traffic lights etc. The idle speed suddenly dips and most times the engine cuts out. I can keep it going by traversing the brake and accelerator pedal to keep the revs up.
I don't know if I can adjust the idle speed on this model can anyone advise?

Your assistance will be much appreciated as this is driving me mad.

The car has not given me any trouble in five years and has been ultra reliable.
It is a 2001 on a 51 plate Carisma 1.8 GDI

there are other threads on here about the GDI, problems with throttle bodies, injectors the list goes on. i would start by removing the throttle body and giving it a good clean.
