I have this holder on the inside of my gas door for the gas cap. Problem is....since day 1...it don't fit! It is like the 2 L shaped pieces are too close for me to put the gas cap in there. Does anyone else have this issue?

Is there something that I can do to fix this? I have tried to spread them out....but I feel like it is going to break.

Maybe I should just get the alloy fuel door huh?

I managed to fit my cap in that holder (it is a pain though), but it is not very solid. It looks like it is made to fit more cap shapes, but yes I agree it is not designed right.
Sometimes I prefer to just let it loose, instead of making a fool of myself trying to fit it when there are people looking.

did the same thing, tried it out and after a few attempts it stayed in the holder, but it serves a very small purpose

For the risk of sounding stupid ... but... you guys rest the threading part on the holder right...?

I did this and have no problem.

Yeah....I did that & it still don't fit (too narrow).

I just drape the plastic cord over the holder & that works just fine for me.

It fits, just screw the gas cap into the holder a turn and a half. Works for me.

I tried that, but I don't wanna sit there trying to get it in there. I look like an **** lol. So I just rest in on the door.

The way I'm doing it is try to fit the grooves in the cap in the two L-shaped pieces of sheetmetal. I wish the designer of this holder was reading this thread.

I think the person that designed this feature is laughing right now :bwekk:

I had problems too. I just rest the thread groove on it. Sometimes I drape the cord over the gas door. That usually works.

the cap holder is made out of plastic... the gas tank is made out of metal.. plastic holder will not screw up ur cap's thread :)
The design was to screw it on there, then it stays.

Yeah probably the same person that designed those awful door side cup holders, lol

I just let mine sit on top and it stays like a good little gas cap.

Someone take a picture of theirs, I'm curious to see how it looks. Mine works fine, I rest the threading inside it. Mine's a U shape.

Open the fuel door, remove the gas cap, place the tip inside the grove and screw it in as if you were placing it back over the gas tank.

The threading is supposed hold it in place enough so that it doesn't dangle everywhere. Since the threading itself never actually comes into contact with the gas door, stripping is a near non-existant issue.
