Auto Zone said the EGR valve needed to be replaced. I took it off and soaked it in carb cleaner. I also did a pressure test and it was fine. Now Auto Zone is saying it is the solenoid. Does anyone know if there is a way to trouble shoot this and if you have a pic of the solenoid that would be great. The error code is P0403.

Which one was the guide to a 99 Diamante. I tried all of them. Maybe it's me.

this one I think
3rd Generation - TJ/TL/KJ/KL (incl. AWD), TJ Ralliart and TH/KH

Supplied by TBuTcher - Download (124.5 MB)

if a 4 cyl would be a 2.4 motor

or a V6

has to be copied onto a cd

Lots of people get those codes, and most the time it has nothing to do with the EGR valve itself. on the back of teh intake near teh firewall . On the left side rear of the intake manifold , yull need to look all the way in the back , there is an EGR exhaust manifold to intake plenum connector pipe. On the side rear nearing the throttle body is the egr valve itself screwed into the intake , yu can attempt to depress it (if yu have small enough fingers) and see how easilly it presses inward , on lots of cases ive seen the the connecter pipe was clogged in the piping or near the gasket itsels at the intake , sumtimes on teh egr side , thus giving a false replacment code. The EGR valve is a low vacuum item and is opened by thevacuum switch. On 97-97 models the vacuum switcher solenoid is located in front of the itake manifild by teh fuel rail aside frum the fuel pressure regulator vacuum switch , on 99 up the vacuum solenoid was on the left side of teh intake plenum.
