I have a 2000 Eclipse GT with the Infinity 4 disc changer. I have a box with 2 12" subs from my last car. I was wondering what I would need to do to install it.

My friend who seems to know said I can run it off of the back speakers by buying a converter of some type, but after reading up on the boards it seems the Infinity system is a pain to work with.

Would it be worth it to shell out the money for the converter, (and a case of beer to my buddy), to add the subs/amp to my stock radio? Consider that im poor and cant afford to upgrade the head unit for a long time.

Thanks!

Its worth it, but you really want to upgrade that head unit.

The problem with those converters is that they dont sound very good. If you get a good amp and subs, its much better to have a good head unit.

But yeah, it's worth it if right now you cant afford the cd player.

i'd go with a new deck all together. hardwire it to your speakers and then run your subs off of the new deck. i just did it in my eclipse and i'm really happy with it. and then you can control your subs, the infinity deck i don't believe comes with that choice.

A headunit is the sane way to do it
Quality sound this way or stock.
Crappy sound will occur if using a converter and you might hate how the converter makes your subs pop louder than they hit w/ bass.
How much is the converter? It may be worth it to save the extra and not regret it by purchasing a deck, somebodys always got one 4 sale for a decent $
Also yes,Being able to control the output and frequency range of your subs is what makes them loud, clear, hit at different tones,,etc...If youve got the amp and subs your more than half way there financially
