I have decided that even though gas prices are pretty high i still would like a turbo app. and why not try something different?
I know there has been alot of discussion on the 1.8l Turbo and thanks to a post on dsm talk I have created a list of things ill need for a 1.8l T app.

1) Tubro Manifold off of a 84-87 dodge colt (G32B)
2) Turbo off of a 1g eclipse
3) Stock intercooler off of a 1g eclipse
4) intercooler piping (local exhaust shop is making this for me)
5) stock 1g BOV
6) Rising Rate FPR
7) Downpipe (also being made by local exhaust shop)
8) braided steel oil lines
9) ARP head studs
10) Head gasket

ok i can get everything except the oil lines, head studs, head gasket and Rising Rate FPR from my friend's dad's junk yard. so here are my questions:

1) How do I know if a FPR is rising rate? Anyone know of a good one for the 1.8L?
2)can I get ARP head studs from places like autozone? or do i need to go the online route? if i must search online wheres the best place to get them from?

3) whats the best brand of Braided steel oil lines?

Wish me luck!

Thanks in advance,
Bonazza

**** none of the sites on the faq had arp studs for a 1.8 :/ o well i might be able to do it w/o them.

the whole point of using them was it says on the first part that u should use 2 head gaskets to lower compression then someone followed up saying our factory studs didnt like 2 gaskets and its better to use arp studs... so either they are out there somewhere are this person is full of ***. lol

o yea and one more question. does the TD05H turbo have an internal or externla wastegate?

Depends on which turbo you get.

Sounds like a great project. If you need custom Oil lines I hear ATPturbo. is a good company.

Didn't see that in the first list just saw you asking about a td05.

The 14B's are internal

Most turbos (expecally turbos that come stock) are internally wastegated.

You could always get an external WG and weld the internal one open.

Ok thats good. that means I don't have to weld a flange onto the turbo manifold.

I also decided to use the Apexi AFC Neo (here) instead of the rising rate FPR. Just seems like it would be more worthwhile.

Also, What do you think a good boost would be to run at before i get all the fuel mods? DSMtalk.com says that it can be done w/o fuel mods but you should run relatively low boost until you save the money for those mods. So I'm guessing around 5-7 PSI?
Once its said and done I should have about a 8:1 compression ratio +/- a few tenths and as of right now my exhaust system consists of 2.5" piping from front to back with a 2.5" high flow cat (Magnaflow) and a magnaflow performance muffler at the tail. Should I upgrade to 3" piping when I get the turbo up and running?

Thnx,
Bonazza

We need to make that a catchy saying... "Got boost? Get fuel mods."

Or...

"Got boost? get more fuel"

Ive already been through my share of partying. Quite frankly I don't party much anymore... maybe go to the bar once every few months. I went to WVU for a while and I failed out of there because of it so I dont do it much anymore.. I do have a few beers and a few left handed cigarettes every now and then but as far as partying goes Im out. Cars are my passion and I have learned alot since getting behind the wheel for the first time. I dont know as much as some of you however learning what I dont know is just as fun.

What a shame, lives in Morgantown and doesn't have a liver problem  haha J/K.

To me the budget just seems real tight but I think with some Saving you can have it ready by next summer.
