So I was reading another members post in the "mudguard" topic when it was noted that their dealer's hourly rate was 92$/hour in WA, USA. I was like WTF?

Where I live it's 80$/Hr (NS, CANADA) and only 58$/hr in the neigbouring province (NB, CANADA).

So this raises a question of interest, how much is Mitsubishi Motors gouging you by (or not) in your home state, province, or country?

(I made this a poll for approximation)

Hi Lonnie, with the hourly rates of some mom and pop auto shops around where I live I'd probably just go directly to the dealership It's not that big of a difference anymore.

That's ridiculous, you should drive across the border to B.C if practical.
Most "Mom and Pop" shops around here charge 50-60$/Hr. There is a reasonable difference.

Dealers are becoming more money hungry. How did society or the governing authority allow these shops to charge upwards of $100/hr , when the mechanic gets a small fraction of that with the rest going straight into their pockets.

Then, there's that automatic "shop supply" charge which for some jobs, they don't even use supplies. I actually brought in my own parts and solvents once, and they still charged me, lol. (I had it removed thou, u can ask for that).

Anyway, just my two cents.

I wish I could do that have my car fixed over there :) Maybe I havent looked around hard enough so far I have called about 5 shops here in Kent WA. I could make a list of the shops I have called and their hourly rates but that might be unethical. So far the lowest rate I got is $80 an hour.

Those crazy rates they charge are nuts! How are people supposed to pay for that?
How many hours does 1 person have to work just to be able to pay their bill?! Crazy. Most of the shops I have been in charge around$90! YOUCHY!

Hey I just noticed that I am now a Senior! Just like my age! Well, I feel like it

apparently, none of you have any idea how a business is run.

its not "money hungry" when you have 3 million dollars worth of overhead, and the city/state taxes the ever-loving crap outta you.

in my state, the average no matter where you go is well over 100 bucks per hour, and thats not just "dealers screwing you", but the independents rate as well.
Not all of these dealers are in Podunk Kentucky, you know.

Got $36/hr here in Texas. Awesome body/parts shop. They were the best deal I could find around here. But it all depends on what you're getting done

Ya know I work in one of those "businesses" that has about a few million in overhead and we don't rape our customers. Maybe its just Mitsu. You really are better at a non-dealer

They don't call them stealerships for nothing!

List price is $89/hr but I get $50/hr instead. Nobody who owns a mitsubishi pays full price for service at my dealer.

unfortunatly, you seem to have no idea what you're talking about.

independent shops are generally run by idiots that are barely literate, and anyone that takes anything to them other than a 30 year old chevy is just asking for trouble.

heres a little stat for you all... nearly 20 percent of our work comes from independent shops that either cant fix a car, or tried and damaged it far, far worse than it was before they touched it.

it never ceases to amaze me how people think that everyone is out to "screw them for doing something so easy", when in fact they themselves are incapable of doing the very work they're complaining about.

36 dollars an hour? dont make me laugh. In a town that actually has a standard of living that you would WANT to live in, that doesnt even pay the taxes on the repair.

Send me a private message and I'll let you know if you want. I don't want everyone running in and demanding $50/hr from them. I do have a really good relationship with the dealership so I doubt just anyone would get the rate I get but like I said nobody who owns a mitsu pays full price.
