Hi,
Sorry i'm not a technical person when it comes to car and am having a heck of a time trying to replace thermostat in my 1990 TP Magna Wagon (2.6ltr ECI)
I can't for the life of me get to the bolts that need to be undone to get into it. I'm not even sure this is my problem, however radiator fans not working, engine overheating VERY quickly and no heat comming out of heater. I bought the parts today but have no idea how to get into where I need to.
I really need step by step instructions. I have no-one to do this for me so am trying to do it myself. Have been reduced to tears already because I just can't get the tools to reach where they need to.
Please help if you can asap, I really want to fix this tonight as need the car to get kids off to school and daycare, pushing 2 kids up hills in a pram the other day when 22 weeks pregnant was NOT fun don't want to have to do it again!
Thanks

Hi I read the post in MCA forum

you have to undo the fuel rail bolt to get to the thermostat housing bolts

rest is over in mca

does the water in the radiator have oil ?

is the car hard to start in the morning or splutter?

is there water on the dipstick

thermostat replacement

easier with a carby model

for the efi models the fuel line to the fuel rail has to be removed

the thermostat sits in a lip of the inlet manifold for the thermo to sit in
with the hole of the thermostat to the top

you use gasket goo or stag jointing compound on both sides of the gasket with the gasket in place this hold the thermo in place

you reface the thermo housing with sandpaper and a smooth surface

then fit the bolts through housing and gasket and start threads by hand
