there is a customer that needs to built up a 4g63 engine and the cost for it sums almost a evo III engine and with this swap he gets a bigger turbo. Can it be done?

This comes up every now and then.

The only difference between the motors is the accessories bolted onto the motor. IE: turbo, intercooler.

i'm sorry that my question is not welcome to others that knows a little bit more than me in this kind of subjects.... but since some sites like this exists, questions can be answer in a good matter and everyone is happy. Now with this information I can say to the guy, buy the engine and lets hook it up in your eclipse 97 gst.
thanks

there is not much difference between the 2 version of the 4g63. it is only little difference. besides finding a evo 3 its going to be hard and it is going to cost MORE then the bolt ons.

all i have to say if you are able to find that evo 3 engine with all that time spend on it my car will go even faster by the time and money that you are going to put in to it.

Hes from puerto rico. They might have all kinds of them there that he could take engines out of. I know my friend who lives in St. Lucia could probably find any year evo engine you could probably want. They have cars in places like that they people in the US have never seen only heard about. My friend has told me it wasnt exactly uncommon for him to walk out his front door and see a nissan skyline gt-r drive by. When was the last time anyone here could say that?

Hi, I was wondering how i would tell if i had a EVO motor? I purchased it on Ebay and my mechanic says its alot different from my old engine. I was told the jdm engines are turned 180 and most of my engine parts bolted right on except for the cam sensor. Know where I can get some info on this?

looks like a US 4g63 with the valve cover painted to me. notice how the air intake is still on the left... also remember that the ONLY jdm 4g63 is out of the EVOs ecclipses were never ssold anywhere outside the US.

basically the evo III engine is worth here $ 1,600. If there is only to take the stock 4g63 from the eclipse and put the evo III with big turbo I think that is a deal. The customer is only looking for 350hp at the wheels and with that turbo bigger intercooler, injectors and a good tuned I think that we can be there. Right now he needs to fix the valves nad wants a bigger turbo, with this purchase I think that he safe some money.

It looks to me like you got a 4g63t from a first generation eclipse. Someone correct me if im wrong, but I dont believe the 1g had the CAM sensor, and the 2g did; which explains why that engine differs somewhat from her old 4g63t.

congrats, it looks like you got a 6-bolt
