i have a 08 lancer ES and want to find rims online for it i dont understand exactly how offset works and need to know what offset will work for my car so i dont buy rims that wont work for my car. Can someone explain it to me

Easiest is to buy rims with the same offset of the car trying to stay in the 7.5 wheel width range.

Offset is best easily understood as
"How far off from the wheel hub the wheel is set"

The bigger the number, the father out the wheel comes out from the fender. Vice versa.
