hey guys

im currently spending some time studying up on mods to put into my car but the conflict with my warranty comes up. i dont want to blow the warranty b/c thats a fat waste of money since i bought the car brand new.
basically what parts should i stay away from so that i dont void my warranty? im looking at getting the injen CAI, a custom made exhaust from an exhaust specialist shop, TWM short shifter, and lowering springs... these are the only performance driven mods im looking at... would any of these void my warranty? all would be professionally installed btw.

thanks

How about Canada? Is there any laws similar to this for us Canucks?

(I did search the forums, but didn't find anything)

I would think the warranty laws would apply to all Mitsu around the world. but dont quote me on that, after all its Mitsu, who knows where their minds are at.

My dealer in Halifax told me they don't mind if it's intake, exhaust ot lighting mods. They even accept piggy back ECU's. The answer you'll get will vary between dealer. Some have positive attitudes towards tuners, others not so much.

According to most warranty laws, the Modification has to be directly responsible for the failure in order for a warranty to be rejected.

There is a link in the forum, search for it.

I did a search, but couldn't find anything on warranty and Canada, hence asking. I'm planning on asking the dealer next week when I get the undercoating etc... done.

Are you talking about Mitsu in Dartmouth? I almost bought my car from them but the financing was taking a long time. I got a call about a personal family member, and called to tell them I had to leave the province and wouldn't be able to go through with the deal. When I put a deposit on the car I asked if for any reason the deal didn't happen, was it refundable. They said yes. I called as soon as the dealership opened the next day (financing still hadn't gone through), and told them I wont be able to go through with the deal, and I have to leave the province. They called, yelled at me, were very rude, then threatened to charge me the deposit if I didn't go back.

That alone was enough to decide to go to another dealer. They charged my credit card so I'm contesting it since I did not receive the product. I called Moncton and asked about the car, and gave them my credit card to hold the car. They didn't even bother putting a hold on it, just took my work I'd show up and held it for me.

The difference in service between Dartmouth and Moncton dealers are night and day. I'm glad I went with Moncton, even if I lose the $500.

Oh, don't even get me started on Metro Mitsu in Dartmouth. They are a small time dealer.

If you google their name, you can actually find small claims filed agaisnt them for messing up sells and trades.

So in a nut shell, They screwed up my financing costs, sold my trade off the lot without my final consent, lied about providing discounts, harassed the GF at home and the car was six months late. The sales manager, Stan Bahadur also tried to pressure sell my GF a confirmed lemon= very nice.

Check out this link on them.

SO who yelled at you anyway? think I have a good idea (service manager)

http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/316/RipOff0316931.htm

On the bright side, the service department there is actually really good. The techs installed my aftermarket parts with no issue and were friendly. Quite the contrast with the horrific sales.
