Alright so, im only 16 first off, im savin up for a car. I just started getting into modding and stuff, and i have some older freinds who do it. I plan to mod the car i get a bit, and eventually "race" it when i feel im good enough. I figured i would get like, a 97-98 gsx, but im having trouble finding any in my area. So, my question is, should i wait until i find an gsx? or go ahead and buy an gst?

also, im stuck between automaatic or stick. I saw the thread about the gst or the gsx, and the different points brought up about each of the transmissions. So im kinda confused on which one to get.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

You're 16, you should start with a rs/gs.

no offense bro but at 16 you wont be able to mod any car much. (unless ur spoiled and ur parents pay for everything lol) my reccomendation is get a car that runs good and is in decent exterior/interior condition and wait till u have a pretty solid income. or alot of connections lol

if you just want to mod your car for looks then go with like an rs/gs. GSX's are made to go fast. looks dont matter at that point

well... if u really want an eclipse id get a gs with a manual tranny. im a firm believer in the idea that everyone in the world should know how to drive a MT. you never know when one of ur friends will get drunk at a bar and u have to drive their car which happens to be a MT. at 16 i wouldnt reccomend getting a GST or GSX since the 4g63 motor is known to have lots of problems unless babied (in which it still will have alot) and at ur age u probably dont have the mechanical knowlege, the bank, or both to fix the various issues that will arise. the 2g GS has a 420a neon motor which is a little more problem proof (tho not entirely).

Ahhhh, i see

yeh, i agree with you. And i was pretty set on getting a MT, just looks funner to drive and such. Although it may take me a while to learn. I have my permit right now and ive been driving a 2002 Honda accord with a v6 vtec engine, and a 2006 Acura TL, both of which are automatic. So i dont really have any experience with MT.

lol

I think you should wait for the GSX and get a 5-speed. Even though I prefer autos, I just use them to race, not to drive.

In this case I would get a 5-speed because they are more fun and have a sterio type for being a stronger car just because it is a 5-speed.

The reason I say to wait is because after you buy your RS/GS you will want more and more and more. So just wait for the best car you can so that when you start to have extra money, start to learn more about how they work the sky is the limit.

The only problem is, the RS or GS would be more reliable. But still, I would wait for the GSX. You will get more credit in your school with driving that car than you would with the non-turbo model

here's my opinion cause eventually it will happen.the gs will only give you so much and you will spend alot to make it fast.the gsx will satisfy that need at a lower cost wait for the gsx instead i regret buying my car but hey now i dont since i used as a DD.but i would save up and meanwhile and just get the best option.

thats exactly what i was thinking
i figured while i haad the money, i should go ahead and get the best

the onlly problem is going to be finding a 95-99 gsx, so far ive found 1- gst's in my area, alot of rs/gs. But im havin trouble findin a gsx
im gunna keep lookin though, seeing as i have a mopnth or 2 before i buy the car.

Buy the best you can, treat it like your baby, and learn to drive it before you get stupid.

Find an auto X course near you go play for an afternoon you'd be surprised at how much you suck at driving. (I was)

the rs/gs platform is good for learning but if your goin to want to go fast gst or gsx is the way to go (talon tsi is same as gsx or gst and uselly cheaper). i bought a rs at 14 and worked on it til about 15 then sold it and bought a 91 gs non turbo to make turbo then ended up buying my tsi awd and sticking the 6 bolt motor in it and now im putting a 7 bolt back into the tsi just got my gaskets today. yay:D:D:D
