Hey guys i have been thinking about buying a Lancer ever since i heard about the upgraded Ralliart that comes out some time this year.
I currently own a Mazda RX8, but i have owned cars similar to a Lancer(Mazda 3) and was wondering how you guys feel about the car?
Ive heard it called an overpriced econo box, but i think the new styling looks great, i was hoping to get a new ralliart in black(so i could also tint the windows and have the all black look) or go with the attention getting orange color that they showed at the detroit show.
My RX8 is an auto and its power is ok, it can beat your stock civic but it does not seem to do it for me. The Ralliart seems to have plenty of power in it for me and i like the design.
I know that Lancers are not built for straight line speed, but im also not a fan of Ford Mustangs which are more straight line speed i think.
I am also thinking about a used Pontiac GTO, but i bet the insurance for one of those is far too high, which is one reason i am staying away from them.
I am currently 20 years old and a college kid. Money for a Ralliart right now is something i can do, i am in Junior College right now, but soon to be in a 4 year school. How reliable are Mitsubishi cars? Once i hit the 4 year school, if the car has some issues i could be in trouble. I will be working my butt off 5-6 days a week until the ralliart comes out, paying down my credit cards and saving up a little bit for a down payment on a Lancer Ralliart.
So basically i am trying to see if if working my tail off for a Lancer Ralliart is a good idea, or am i better with my RX8?
Right now my RX8 has 50,000 miles on it and is a 2004. Only gets about 15 Miles per gallon.
Any info is appreciated, thanks guys, and hopefully i will be a lancer owner soon!

QUOTE(lonnieg3 @ May 15 2008, 01:21 PM) Either this is a glitch (since this post was listed previously), or you just don't understand the concept of forum rules. There are many posts answering these questions, REFER TO THOSE. Search the forums before you post! REPORTED http://www.mitsubishi-forums.com/t35301-at...ion-posters.htmhttp://www.mitsubishi-forums.com/t31254---...u-post-----.htmWow you are a really helpful person. I am a moderator for a message board myself and you guys are pretty strict about any new threads. Learn to lighten up a bit, the information and response in those threads were not very helpful to me, which is why i started this thread in the first place. If you want to ban me than so be it, but it is much easier to get a direct response to a question rather than sift through pages and pages and pages of old threads. Peoples response change over time as well, get a clue you and lighten up.

Sorry, but we did not find any matches to display. Try again and broaden your search criteria. If you were searching for new posts since your last visit, it's possible that there are none to show.

Ok Ok calm down. 1st, I know it can take some time to find info, but imagine everyone opening threads about same topic? it would eventually be completely impossible to find something you need. By having 1 thread on each topic you eliminate that problem.
Anyways, there is a pinned thread about RalliArt too. The thing of it is, you asked us if its worth saving up for car that isnt out yet. As of for Lancer, trading in your RX8 for Lancer is like trading apples for peaches. Completely different class, style, etc. If you think ur RX8 that doesnt weigh anything, doesnt have good acceleration, then Lancer is going to be even worse for you. RalliArt on the other hand could be a different story, but then again, who knows, nobody has driven one yet (as far as i know).
p.s. if I was you.. why dont u drive ur RX8 while still in college, pay as much debt off as you can, graduate, get a job, and then get the RalliArt if you are still interested. By then, someone else might have bought it too, so you can get true feedback.

Im not trading in my RX8 for a Lancer GTS, i just figured that since the Ralliart is just a Lancer with more power, i figured i could find out about the 08 Lancer(size, handling, stock stereo system, recaro vs normal seats, stuff like that). I know im not going to find a review on the Ralliart yet. I have thought about keeping the RX8, but it has 50k miles on it, and as you know they use a Rotary engine which very few Mechanics know how to work on, so i would have to go to the dealer and get ripped off. I want to have a car that i can start paying off now so that way when i graduate college in a couple years, i will have a car(still under warranty) and have it almost paid off. Im not really that much into debt, im going to have my credit cards paid of in a few months. Thank you for the feed back.

QUOTE(SimmoES @ May 16 2008, 03:48 AM) Here's the way i see it, and its just my 2 cents.. Im guessing your RX8 is paid off. I would drive it until you save up and graduate and ready to buy the ralliart. You will not get crap for the trade in on the RX8 with over 50K miles, on a car thats very unpopular. With that said, why not just keep it. This way, you have RX8 as your weekend or even project car, and RalliArt as everyday beast. Not paid off yet sadly

QUOTE(lonnieg3 @ May 16 2008, 02:53 PM) LISTEN HERE JERK, They're are plenty of threads including the Ralliart thread to address your questions. Rather then waste forum space and people's time, READ THE OTHER THREADS! Do you think you're entitled to "special treatment' just because are a supposed MOD on another site?. That doesn't give you the right to come on this forum, start slamming the set-up, rules and calling people down. Do you think by reposting the same thread over again after deletion by a MOD, is gaining you more respect? If you notice by the lack of responses to your thread (not including yourself), No one has the time to answer you TONS of questions. BECAUSE THEY WERE ALREADY ADDRESSED IN OTHER THREADS. STOP WASTING PEOPLE'S TIME AND SMARTEN UP. Never seen a person get so mad over a thread being posted. I never claimed any special treatment or any of this nonsense you talk about. All i said was your forum rules are stupid and i pointed out a flaw in your system. Like i said if there were a topic on the 09 EVO, say 10 pages or more and you wanted to find one small spec about the car, why search through 10 pages of information. "Use the search feature" I typed in 09 Lancer review and no results came up. Search features does not always work. Again the board i do work for is a news agency site apart of the NY times. I have never seen a website like this with such strict rules where posters can only post 1 thread on a single topic. Its amazing any new discussions happen on this board. I already apologized the Moderator, i do not need to apologize to you, just because you have a couple hundred posts does not make you in charge of the board either. Stop being such a whiner and learn to grow up. Searching through multiple threads for specific information is pointless and takes far too long. Why even bother with a message board in the first place, why not just make an FAQ than.

I just test drove a GTS fully loaded with the CVT and I loved it, no comparison to the torque in our A4 or CX-7 but I just liked the looks, handling, features and the infotainment that the Lancer has, and the new 2.4 is noticeable. Only thing is, the interior has some really cheap bits on the dash, and the door pulls feel really hollow, overall the feel and design is still very nice. Navi, Sun and Sound, looks and CVT sold me on the first drive.
Compared to the RX-8... it's going down in every way except for MPG. But the Lancer is still great.
If you have a need for speed and AWD wait for the RalliArt, we probably would wait but the price isn't attractive enough.
