So I have looked around and I haven't seen anywhere where they suggest a CAI and a turbo. In my head it sounds like a good idea but I feel like I would have seen it somewhere if it worked. some help would be great!

as far as i know CAI is for NA cars and turbos are forced induced. and im pretty sure thats what an intercooler is for, to cool the air entering the turbo

my mind just went blank... whats NA agian? haha and anyway a CAI brings in cooler air the first time around before a Turbo puts it back the the piston. but a innercooler just cools the piston itself right? like cools the sleeve around the piston so that the air stays cooler once its in the piston. I mean correct me if Im wrong.

u cannot have a CAI and a turbo. just dont work that way lol. even if u cooled the air once it entered the turbo it would become hot anyway.

True it would warm up when it went through the turbo but if you start think about taking in 65 degree air and heating it up to 100 degrees with a CAI you get more benefits than taking in 80degree air and heating it up to 115 degrees. Colder intake charge also reduces risk for detonation. that's what intercoolers do but if you can take in colder air from the get go your intercooler and turbo will be more efficient.

Colder air is also more dense. if you compress air that is more dense you deliver a higher volume of air creating more power and also the need for more fuel. but still,,, more power

CAI's for turbo applications are, as far as I know, always fabricated. They don't sell any aftermarket.

The less piping you have before the turbo and the cooler you can get the air before the throttle body the better.

i have seen aftermarket intakes for turbo app. but nothing running to the ground like cai i dont really think there would be much different since its forced induction and a intercooler cools the air going into your motor not just the piston its all the air going in. look up turbo system diagram on google it will show you whats happenging.

so would a short ram intake be a better combo with a turbo then? less piping? or do you just leave the stock intake piping and fit a bigger intake on it?

Its along the lines of a short ram intake.

Keep in mind the intake goes from the filter to the turbo, gets compressed int he turbo then to the intercooler and then to the throttle body.

From there it does its thing inside the motor and leaves via exhaust but not before going through the turbo and spinning the compressor wheel.

If you're just doing the basic free mods and stuff, you don't need to up the BOV yet. Once you start upping the boost, get rid of theat plastic piece of crap

what do you mean by free mods? and out of curiosity if you have a manual boost control what psi does the stock turbo go to? I've heard the stock BOV leaks at about 7 does the turbo go higher than that if you can actaully tune it?
