I have a 96 spyder that leaks from every corner. First it was the corners by the driver seat then the passenger side started to leak? Next the water starting to get into the trunk. I had enough so i took it to get it repaired they say i have to replace the whole thing which will cost me $2000. I couldnt believe what they were charging me so i went online to do some research and the tops cost around 300 to 400 dollars. If they are so cheap why the hell is it costing so much. Is the other 1500 for labor thats crazy. Has anybody replaced there top and does this seem like a fair price to pay.

Drives: 1996 Talon AWD. Built, but no longer drives: 1997 mitsubishi eclipse RS; 1990 Talon AWD; 1995 Talon AWD, 1997 Talon AWD. Seems like a pattern

if you can find a top that is that cheap I would go to a different mechanic. $1500 for labor is absolutely outrageous and they probably just made the price up because they don't want to do it.

You could probably get a dealer to do it cheaper. If you think about it, that price is almost half the worth of the vehicle

i did one for 500 dollars they bought the top i didnt think it was that bad but i also do interior work on seats so that might help i would go to dealer or somewhere else and see if there is a stereo place around you go there and see if they have a fabric guy and see how much they will cost cause he will do it right.
