Ok, just to start off so I don't get introuble, I'm not posting this for any type of business. I have a CNC 3 axis mill and lathe at a shop I own, I like to make custom parts as a hobbby of mine but I am having a problem thinking of things I can make for my lancer. I have made thousands of parts for older muscle cars and a few sets of rims, but I want my own personal touch on my car. If anyonw out there has any ideas, let me know and I'll see what can be done. If its an awesome idea and I roll with it, I may hit them up with it as well. (No Rim Ideas)

You can check out some of the parts I made for my old man's '48 GMC Pickup on my site.

Start with an ultra-light pulley, if you can get a hold of a print from Mitsu and some good aluminum alloy.

Te only problem with making a crank shaft pulley is they are made and balanced on a balancing machine at 15k-20k rpms. I dont have the right equiptment to check the balance and the specs on how much it could be out at certain rpms. But thanx for the idea

Anywayssss.

I was thinking a manual shifter plate like the following.

(IMG:http://www.fca-newengland.org/images/links/shifter.jpg)

I will come up with more ideas later!

You know, that may be a good option, let me llok into it and see if I can find some sizes and specs on it. My only bump for that one is that I dont have manual. But let me see what I can do or who I can find around here who can get me some good accurate dimentions.

But also, I dont know how much you may like that, it may get in the way when you are trying to shift fast, but Ive never had a plate there like that myself.

Oh how fate has mocked me. So close...

And about the speed and shifting... Here is a link about other cars that have that shift plate.

Door sills, like these (IMG:http://www.boomplustoys.net/images/JDM%20Honda%20Parts%20Cars/JDM_Honda_Fit_Door_Sills.jpg).
But I rather have them say something else if possible  and with a better design than the ones that come in the GTS.

Lol, I'm trying to think of every idea possible to make my Lancer as unique and personalized as possible :gunsmilie:

Thats exactly the point of this post. I'll Look into the sills, it shouldnt be too difficult. Ill get a prototype going and shoot some pics back for more ideas on it. But I'll take some design ideas for the meantime until I start on them.

Thanx Sky, let me know what you think should be on there and I'll TRY and get you a set, if it all works out.

The only problem would be that it is sheet metal and I dont deal with it too much, but I may beable to make it work.

:liebe011: Haha thanks. I'll also think of other stuff as I drive the car more but for now that's one thing that sticks out to me.

As for ideas: (IMG:http://www.autotrucktoys.com/chevy_hhr/images/17801673.jpg)

Some thing like that looks really nice. Making it say Lancer and have the word made out of something translucent is a plus too so I can add some LEDs under it
Haha whatever you do would work too :57:
Everytime I get out of the car, I stare at the black plastic my shoes rub on

By the way, what materials can you work with on the CNC? I'm not totally familiar with the thing

Anyways, good luck

I can works with almost any time or steel, alum, and plastic. Some of the things that I have made for some older motors and cars are: small block valve covers, intake covers, engine brackets, and other misc things. These new cars are made of so much plastic and mass produced molded stuff that its hard to find things to make for them.

do you know the best possible way to do this, i would love to hear what you have to say on it, cuz i can try to do this myself, and of course help from a friend to get this job done.

What do i need to do this? is prolly all i need to ask you. and is it going to be some sort of tape that i put on?

When I look at the pictures of the car you were referring to, it seems to just be standard car trim, besides the notch around the emblem. Its purchased most any autobody or automotive parts store and comes in a roll. The stripping will have an adhesive back to it thats like double sided tape and than you just place it around your grill.

I'm not a huge fan of the stuff and the "crome" outside will wear and chip easily, but you can take it back off and replace it if need be, I just dont know what that till do to you paint in the long run. You'll know what I mean about the quality when you see it in person.

It may be something more than that, but it would of came with the bumper the guy has listed there. Good Luck, let me know how it turns out if you roll with it.

ehh i might not, prolly just wait for a full bumper than looks like that or the evo x front bumper or something. Every company needs to hurry up on making stuff, this is why we dont spend out money, cuz they aren't making good stuff.

Jattsta_GTS08

the point of this thread was not to see where u can get door sills, but have one of our own members create something very unique thats not for sale out there. Besides, if he charges only for materials and shipping, it will be well under $100 ( i hope.. cuz i want them lol).
