i've always stuck with 30 miles of city driving until I hopped the throttle with a new clutch. Everyone's opinion is different and some manufacterer's say there is no break in period necessary (especially with ceramics)

I would say that if you still feel like it's slipping or you smell it burning more than you think it should after 30 miles they probably put too much lube on the input shaft and it flew all over the clutch disc.

I would say thats probably right... yesterday after about 40 miles, i tried to leave a little hard off the light, (there was an audi s4 beside me) and i looked like an *****.

revved till about 3g and started letting out the clutch, mashed the pedal and revs just spiked as it sat there crawling forward... after a sec i let off, and man, what a stink for about 5 minutes!!!! really sucked..

Now after another 100 miles, I ran it through 1-2-softly 3 and still smelled a little clutch when i slowed down...

Break in should consist of at least 500 miles of stop and go traffic. Beat on it any sooner, and your clutch will be junk.
