I emailed GReddy today about the new hangers to see what they say. Fizz I attached your picture to the email and the link to this forum. Below is the email and what I got back.

Hello,

I am writing to ask about the new hangers for the first version exhaust for the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer to fix the bumper melting issue. Several people have spoken with Mitch over there but thus far no one has received the new hangers. I spoke with one of the techs back on June 25th via AIM and was told that it would be about two weeks before we would receive them. We are all kind of curious as to when we will get these because the second revision exhaust has been on sale for awhile now. I am sending a link to a forum where one of our members posted some pictures of his bumper melting so you can review some of the comments being made by us. This issue honestly isn’t looking to good for you guys as far as customer service goes. Please help us out, we didn’t pay $300 to have this exhaust destroy our cars.

I wonder what is going on over there. I have tried to get them on AIM for the last two days and no one has been online.

Right after I posted this I called over there and I was told that the hangers were sent out today. He asked for my first name and then told me my last name so we will see I guess. Fizz did you ever send your pics over for them to look at or talk to anyone?

Fizz, did you send this picture to GReddy yet? I would make sure they see it.

I sent it to Mitch a day or 2 after my last post.
I called and just asked if there is anything they can do for me.
I even asked if I could get the new one that ppl seem to be happy with as a replacement.
Mitch said it is exactly the same just longer extended rubber hangers.
Mitch told me (basically) that I knew about the issue and kept the defected product on my car, so....
I persisted to try and have them help me, and...Mitch was supposed to have the manager call me back.

Didn't Happen.... A Surprise? I think not.

I will call them today... and will ask for the new model again....
when they say its the same exact thing just with longer rubber hangers, I will reply that's why I want a new one.... I'LL FINALLY GET THE RUBBER HANGERS!!!

Well I guess we could boycott them kind of like we did with autoanything.com over the K&N fiter pricing issue. It's not like GReddy are the only ones making exhausts for our cars at this point. Several of us have had this issue and it was reported back in like April or May and still no resolution for us with the first revision but they continue to sell the new model. What do you guys want to do?

The BBB could be a way to go, but I wonder if GReddy would try to push it off on the merchant we bought the product from instead of taking the blame themselves.

Didn't call them yesterday, went out to see Batman w/ my lady (2nd time).
I will contact them today, if possible. I doubt they'll help tho.
They seem to not give a f**k.

I think they just created this thread to get a test car, NOT to make things right.
Guess we fell for it.

If I dont get help from them, I'll probably contact the BBB.
Based on this situation, I dont think that this will be the first time they've been contacted about GREDDY.

To boycott them, we'll need much more backing....
Ya see, they've got my money already... I'm no longer of value... (along with all others that have this unresolved issue)

Ideas on how to get it started? :gunsmilie:

Well I got home today and there was a door tag from fed-ex. The PO number shows LANCER UPDATE, so I am pretty sure it is the hangers from GReddy. I missed Fed-Ex by 7 minutes. The tag says 2:20 I pulled into the driveway at 2:27. Go figure. I called fed-ex and they said they couldn't send them back that I would have to wait until monday.

That's BS. They're supposed to redeliver within the next 48 hours. You can always go and pick it up from the location on the receipt though.

Fizz, as for ideas on how to get it started... It's pretty simple actually.

I, FreakingWilly, vow from henceforth that I shall never purchase a single product that is made by Greddy in part, whole, or otherwise until Mitsu_Fizzle's problem is rectified in a manner that he deems fit!

Sincerely,

FreakingWilly

I'll be back home this weekend, so if they're sending them out, I may have received them as well.... who knows?

I still am undecided on what to do for my bumper.....

Maybe I'll invest in a kit, cuz it doesn't seem that my bumper will be able to go back to normal.
Close but not exactly is what body shops have told me.
I dont know how much a new bumper will cost, but I was looking at this the other day as a solution

installed my bracket today and it was simple with just two screws and in it goes. made the gap for the muffler to bumper larger to dissipate the heat before it hits the bumper. I didn't really need it due to the fact i bought the carbon fiber heat shield and that took the brunt of the heat. installed it anyways just in case, but looks good now. this is the gap size that it should of been installed as, around 2 to 2.5 inch gap. :460:

Edit: dang the tip of the muffler still moves close to the bumper after using the bracket. gonna see if i can move it around anymore. the problem is after a while the bracket moves around slightly and that is enough to bring the tip closer to the bumper.

If Greddy isn't giving you the proper support, I will.

The best support you need right now is in the shape of a rubber hanger

As for the Yellow DE Lancer, the body kit looks a lot like a GTS except the cut outs for the fog lights are split in two. I'm digging the ribbon thing on the doors though.

Let me know what your ultimate decision is. Right now, you can either get a whole new bumper or just add on to your current bumper like the rear Evo-style diffuser or just a CF heat shield. I might be able to work out something for you.

Inpeng,

Do you have a picture of the bracket installed. I just got mine from Fed-Ex and the copies they sent with the directions are way too dark to read. After you tightened your bracket back up did it still move around? If I put this thing on and my bumper melts anymore than it already has GReddy will be replacing some bumpers for real.

sorry guys, didn't take pix of the install. they moved around still though on mine when i had them on. The car they were on is now gone, traded in for an Evo MR. I had the carbon heat shield which really helps with preventing the melting bumper issue.

So i would recommend to those who don't have melted bumpers yet to get some for protection. it is cheaper to remove the heat shield (screwed on from the bottom) then it is to replace the bumper.

Well...
with all the talk of the new exhausts being out and that we should see our hangers soon
I decided to attach the middle hanger back on to my car yesterday. ( I had attached on the exhaust but tucked under the stub connected to the car to space it out more )
I figured it would be here in a matter of days and it wouldn't do any real harm to my car.
I actually figured it would be more risky for me to continue driving w/ only 2 hangers attached
WRONG!!!
(IMG:http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s1/BeigalBeigal/GReddySucks.jpg)

My bumper is now destroyed. I will have to seek advice on how to fix this.

My friends (who own this exhaust) the fix is out there.... its called "A DIFFERENT BRAND"
The worst thing is I wont be able to uninstall until the weekend, so it will be deeper fried by then.
Thanks GReddy!! Great Product and A+ customer service...
Start selling the new stuff before you correct your first mistake and make things right w/ your loyal customers who are in need.
I hope you all get your extensions and don't go thru this but... you probably wont.
They have forgotten you and don't give a $hit because they've got your money already.... like every other business. No accountability.
*

dude that happened when you had it installed incorrectly without the new brackets that you KNEW you needed. THAT IS 100 percent your fault!!!

Actually I think we have the right to down talk GReddy at this point. I reported my issue to them in April and when I did they told me they had not heard of the exhaust melting the bumper. I gave them the link to this forum so they could see the complaints for themselves. They emailed me two weeks later and needed a test car. I live in Arkansas so I couldn't help them out.
So lets think about this for a second. I reported the issue in April and I got a metal bracket and some washers **** near 4 months later to fix an issue that never should have taken place! $300.00 for a part to sit in a box in my garage while GReddy takes their time to come up with this miracle fix.
Never mind the fact that GReddy started selling that second revision exhaust long before they sent us that had already given them money the part to fix the issue. I bought from GReddy because they had a good name but after this I will not buy another part from them simply because they sold all of us a defective part then took forever to fix said defect. Since your exhaust works for you that is great but please don't tell the rest of us how we should feel about our specific situations.
