I had a similar problem a while ago with the antenna !!

It is because the motor which winds the antenna has lost the connection with the plastic wire that unrolls/rolls the antenna. !!

You can turn the black screw beneath the antenna in anti clockwise direction and the antenna would pop out.

Then, you can see for yourself if you can fix the Plastic wire with the motor !

If not, the entire antenna wud cost you $ 36 and you can unscrew the assembly from the Trunk and fix it urself (jst remember to put the wirings as it is) !!

Good luck ..

Regards,

Jimmy.

Here is the way to replace the mast on the power antenna.

The words are a little distorted on the image. The cap nut at the top of the antenna base yu need to remove it . after yu take it off , Gentlly pull up , then have sumone turn the radio on , as it comes up yu pull it ouot, the whole thing should come out , watch to see which way it comes out, (the toothed side is usually always facing foward) After removing the old cable , leave switch on , take new mast and lower the cable in the way the old one came out . once it has dropped in a bit til it stops, have sumone turn the radio off and the motor will pull the rest of it in. After the cable has pulled all the way in put the cap screw nut back on . Then turn the radio back on to make sure the power mast antenna fully extends and retracts. Ive always put a little engine prep grease or white litium grease or even bearing grease on the chord of the new power mast. The reason the old ones usually break is because they get dry and brittle frum winding and unwindimg. This helps out.
