Okay so ive been browsing these forums along with project lancer and 4b11. There seems to be some confusion regarding the tinting problems of the 2008 and if it carried onto the 2009 model. Does anyone actually have a real basis for a solid answer?(experience) Most of what i read was based on implication.

if you're talking about the windows, im sure they are same size and everything, now i don't exactly know if you need moleskin but just to be on the safe side its always recommended unless you are like me and dont care about the scratches.

Yea sorry, the problem with the vertical scratching on the windows. Now i hear that moleskin glue will rub off in hot weather and cause even more problems, can anyone confirm this?

the glue does come off on the windows, which is a pain,

remember....moleskin isn't a 100% fix, it just slows it down.

I've been wondering the same thing if they fixed the tint problem with the 09 or even the evo, cause i would like to change out the rubber and get this tint problem fixed.

Its probably the same as the '08s.
A girl I know had her tint done prior to purchasing her Lancer. (by the dealership)

They still wouldn't help her out as far as moleskin or something else.... and she Bitched BIG TIME @ THEM, with good reason.

It fell on def ears... Mitsubishi looks @ tints as a modification and doesn't feel it is responsible for mods.

So i got my 09 tinted with no moleskin or tint protection. So far, i can only visibly see one scratch on all four windows, with me rolling them down and up about three to four times. I am not really going to bother with the moleskin, seems like it may cause more problems and may not be worth the struggle of ordering and installing them.

I'll just wait for a fix, and then replace my tints ;p

btw, the sound and jump of the window when it first rolls down is awful! i cringe every time!

Yes. I am with you on that brother.
That doesn't change if you get moleskin either, trust me. :(

Okay so ive rolled my 09' gts windows more than enough to say that i did NOT need tint protection. I can't really see any scratches. That terrible clicking sound when you first roll down the windows went away as well. oh happy me =]

Just a tip, keep the inside of your windows very clean, maybe even keep a duster in the glove compartment to swipe them every week or so, shouldnt have a problem with scratching if you have an 09.

I have an 09 gts,
I had felt installed with my tint,
I still got scratches on my passenger side, 1 really big one right in the way of the side view mirror, its very irritating everytime i look.
all other windows are fine so far, maybe the felt needs to be done again, i will take it back soon for them to do again.

The reputable Tinting shops here refuse to tint our Lancers. I checked with 3 of them and they said that they had numerous Lancer come back with scratches after trying different kinds of felts/moleskin.
One of them said , after applying the felt, it becomes too tight for the window to go up/down and causes the felt to come off, leading to scratches. They said they will do it but without the warranty :(
