Ok so i purchased my car on april 19th, 2008 for an octane blue 2009 GTS. I was guaranteed 6-8 weeks until my car got here, but when i called him up 2 days ago he says there was a problem with my order saying that it was effected because there was a strike at the mitsubishi plant in osawa, japan or some ****... hmm wtf??? that means my car wont be coming for another 10-12 weeks from TODAY as it sounded. Is this **** or whaT? Was he jerking me off this whole time as if he had 2009s in stock and he really didnt but really he was playing some games to get some money quick or what? I think this is another trick played by a dealer. what u guys think?

Threaten to close the deal and sever any ties with the dealership. You purchased a car and paid money for it... WHERE'S THE CAR MR. DEALER?!?
Seriously though, they are crafty folk. You knew from the get-go that there would be at least a month and a half wait before you got your car. If they had 2009s in stock, they would have tried to sell you one they didn't want. They'll probably say that they estimated your delivery date to be 6-8 weeks, so you can't make a guarantee on an "estimate." That's why it's an ETA... Estimated Time of Arrival.
As for the "guarantee" the dealer gave you, it's pretty much worthless unless you have it in writing. If you are just so lucky to have such documentation, then you can cancel your order because the dealer breached the contract... or get them to sweeten the deal, know what I mean jellybean? ;)
Those leather seats sure look nice! Installed? Free of charge? You shouldn't have!

QUOTE(lonnieg3 @ May 20 2008, 12:01 PM) Yeah I got the same story last year. Waited 2 months and then the phone call came in, "Sorry, gonna be another 2-3months.", "it's beyond our control".
Except their excuse for my 5 month delay was an earthquake in Japan, lol. Obviously your dealer and mine went to the same Mitsu BS school.
So it says on your profile that you own a 08 GTS, did you trade up? if so, how'd that work out for you?
LOL the dealer said the same **** saying there was a strike at the mitsubishi plant in osawa, japan and he said ITS BEYOND MY CONTROL!!! HE SAID THE SAME **** WTF!?? thats crazy omg! well about my 08 gts i never bought it but i thought i was gonna buy it when i registered to this site. But instead i waited for the 09 lancer gts to come out. My question is why does the dealer delay the date of shipment?? I dont get it?? Just order the fucking car and bring it in wtf?

QUOTE(Jattsta_GTS08 @ May 21 2008, 11:35 AM) LMAO... mine was one of the best, i got this excuse; When I placed the order, I was told max 3 weeks and i should have the car.
After 1 month I went back to my dealer,
Me to dealer: Where's my car??!!??
Dealer: oh it's on the way it should be here in the next 2 week.
After 1 month
Me: Where the FU*% is my car!!!!!
Dealer: there was an earthquake in Japan and the company that provides the mags for the GTS has closed down, so were waiting to get new mags from some other company.
It took them 5 months to make the 4 mags ?!?
So the "MAX 3 WEEKS" was only a way for me to sign the contract, it ended up being 5 months for me to finally see the car!!
HAHA, I like your narrated version the BEST! So what's next, unexploded WW2 ordinance blows up "turn signal" supplier! So obviously, you also got fed the earthquake BS as well; and of course one guy got the "Plant Strike" story, so they're issues there. Whether or not there is any truth to these stories still doesn't make a 2-6 month wait for a car acceptable. My dealer only got mine after swapping with an un-opened dealer in Alberta. yeah, Mitsu still couldn't get my car after 5 months, but an un-opened dealer did?? Unfortunately, This is why Mitsu is known for the worst customer satisfaction in the world. If they could only clean up their act and get their priorities straight, they'd be world class. Also, people should avoid these BS dealers because they're part of the problem, not just Mitsu corporate. Mine was Metro Mitsubishi in Halifax.

I searched the net on the Lancer GTS before I bought mine. I found a article posted on a site regarding the car. I don't remember if it was edmunds , car and driver, .... but anyway the problem with the GTS is the mitsubishi thought the ES would be the price leader but it turned out that so many people wanted to spend the xtra cash to get the GTS that they actually ran out of them. Mitusbishi Cancelled 1500 US orders due to exportation to Russia and such. That is why there was such a delay as well as the update to the 2.4 on the 09. The Dealership didn't know the true story or neglected to find out and were just giving you the info they had. Earthquake I am not sure about. It is possible as I lived in Japan for 6 1/2 years and they have tons of them. Strike at the plant sounds like an excuse. Not to be an arse but when you run into stuff like this do a little searching on the net. You would be amazed at what you can find.

Hey guys, new to the site. I bought my 08 Lancer DE back in october. Now i've ALWAYS wanted a lancer ever since i first saw one in 2003. so naturally when i went to buy my first car i looked at a lancer, lol. When i got to my dealership there was only one lancer there(eventually the one i bought). Now it was a DE, but it wasn't selling so they figured if they fitted it with the tint and rear spoiler and the audio input for ipod/mp3 it would sell. So obviously i asked if they had any other around or if they could order one in for me. I should also add that i knew one of the sales guys there as he is on my rugby team. He looked at me and said yes we can order one in, but then you need a down payment, and you'll have to make all your payments while waiting for your car to come in, and he said that people have been waiting 6 months for theirs and i would have to wait at least that. So long story short i said **** it. If i buy the DE, it's essentially the same car, it's manual(wouldn't buy a car that isn't standard) They are giving me all the add ons they put on for free, cheaper this way, and it also leaves me a bit more room to customize or modify. So i bought it and i've never been happier. I look for any excuse to drive my car and just can't wait til mid summer so i can start my mods on her, lol.
