Yeah, Montero and Pajero is the same, but here in Europa we say Pajero, and not Montero.. I have had my Mitsubishi since 1995 and I`m so increddible happy about it.. It is the very first Mitsubish that is approwed from our traffic dep. with the wheel size 36" even in Iceland you`ll find Mitsubishi with wheel size from 38" up to 44" and that is more or less just amazing.. I`ve been at Iceland a few time`s and that contry is my favorite holiday hang out place.. A contry fill`ed with nice people that is amazingly friendly, and a breathless nature, with glaciours and nice river`s and high mountain`s, a mystic place for eny photograph I must say..

A few photos from Iceland on www.jeepir.com B)

Well I really do not know, or I guess I really do not like to think those thought`s.. ;) The point is or for me is to have a rig that I like, and a few part`s you`ll need to make it even better, so that is what I have done, it you have the time, you really should take some time to see my home-page.. Because I feel that it`s rather good, and I somehow show what we`re doing with my rig, because it is not at all for show`s only, we`re use`ing it a lot.. SWEET RIDE mate :D

I'm gonna check out your homepage for sure and hope that you have some info on your suppliers.

I will be planning an ultimate 4x4 SWB Shogun (same as Motero & Pajero) and am looking forward to some ideas ... I know you guys love your BIG wheels - did you have to alter your gearing when they were fitted ?

Have you got any movies available for download of your rig in action ???

The best one i've ever seen, nice rig. i have to ask, does it have independent front Suspension? like our pajero's in Australia. the last time i asked ARB here they did not have a diff lock kit for the front diff.or have you put a full diff in it? Love the web-page/and the rig. thanks :D

The original name for what you know as "Montero" is Pajero.

Unfortunately "Pajero" has a negative connotation in Spanish, and they had to make a plan for North America. I am not sure what they do in Spain...

But it is the same car.

Nice looking machine! I use to own a Landcruiser and did a bit of off roading including river crossings, etc in New Zealand. I fitted 33" BFG's to it with leaf spring stiffner and it looked and performed well off road but not very well on the road. I recently bought a 97 Pajero with the V6GDI and 5-speed auto. I would like to put some larger tyres on it and beef-up the coil spring suspension but I am concerned on how it will effect the handling. How have you found the performance and road handling with yours?

Could you explain the ARB air lock on the diffs as I thought that the centre diff lock did this. Is it something you need on the manual tranny? I need to get mine off road soon and experiment. The 4WD write-up on these newer models were not so complimentary.

Attached ImageWell, how the diff lock`s work I guess I`m not the right one to answer, but it work`s it really do.. Before I had automatic diff lock in front, but I feelt it was a bit unsecure, because they suddenly got free and at some point they did`nt lock when they where suppose to lock and so on, it could happen that they where a bit old or something like that.. I have at this point maual, so I have to go out and look them.. And ofcoure the same if I want to unlock them, it seem`s a better option for me enyway..

About the Air Lock system from ARB I can only say the useing the inside of your brain it work`s a lot, but you have to keep in mind that the ARB wont break, but something would breake if you use it wrong, and most possible a axel or something would give it up with wrong use.. Like air borne, try`ing hard corners or wheelies or thing`s like that.. :o :o :o Because if you get lift on one wheel the speed would be the same as the wheel grounded, and when the lifted wheel fall`s down to the ground it would be a amazingly power that would if you are unlucky really pull a hard pressure on the wheel and most on the poor axel..

I\ ve gone some Offroad challange her around with both tyre`s 36" and 35" and for me it seem`s good enough with 35" no question on that.. The gear ration seem`s good enough and I have had no problems with that either, but I have to say that my technicael english is not that good, but I`ll try to answer eny question that is posted in my guestbook at www.jeepir.com, and ofcourse Happy new year to you all Mitsubishi owner`s out there.. :D :D :D

Hi Jeepir

That's an impressive looking vehicle you drive. :D Here in Australia 33" tyres are about the largest we commonly use on Pajeros; a few run 34" tyres, and one or two have used 35" but 36" is impressive. How the Icelanders fit 44" tyres amazes me!

Steve

ARB released a diff lock for the front of most Pajeros/Shoguns/Monteros in June 2004. ARB part number is RD110, and it's not uncommon for ARB dealers to not know about it - give them the part number and ask them to find out if it fits your vehicle.

Benckj

The ARB Air Locker uses air pressure to move a sliding collar which locks the two side gears together. If this is too much detail, then just remember that it locks both wheels together, and is 100% driver controlled. Unlike autolockers (Detroit locker etc) which make their own decisions on when to unlock - they have a nasty habit of either not unlocking when you need them to, or unlocking when you would prefer they didn't. When this is occurring on your front axle the steering can do nasty things.

Cheers,

Scott

Jeepir,

I just found this site myself!

As has been noted, you've got one nice rig, but you already know that was my opinion from before. :D
