Just wondering how many people have experienced cracked dashes. I think this may be a defect.

Nothing new - SEVERAL. Search and you'll find many more complaints.

It won't be a defect, the car is now 8 years old. Lack of care, excessive sun = cracked dash. Your option is to replace the dash with another or deal with it.
