Hey everyone,
I have a 2001 eclipse spyder Gt with a problem. Sometimes when im driving it jerks ( like driving over logs). It happens the worst when I am on the highway going about 70 mph. It also has crappy throttle response and seriously lacking power in the lower rpm range and when initially taking off from a stop. I just had a new timing belt, water pump, pulleys, tensioners, belts, ac clutch kit, and new spark plugs and wires. I also had the transmission flushed a couple weeks ago. I cant find any vacuum leaks and this happens totally randomly. its been to two mechanics, the last one told me it was probably the spark plug wires.. After changing them its still doing the same thing. Its driving me insane and any help would be greatly appreciated.

check to see if your Mass Airflow Sensor plug is connected properly. if not it can cause this issue. next time you take your vehicle to a shop before you ever have them look for anything you ask them if they have some time to go for a ride. take them around and they should be able to help you out once they feel it. a good mechanic can hear and feel the differences between transmission problems and engine problems. this will help you better to get a idea of what is wrong. if you just take it to a shop they won't even do this check and it can be the difference between a 200 dollar fix and a 1500 dollar fix.

Great point, one of the most accurate fixes Ive ever had on a car was when they test drove it for five minutes.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll check the mass airflow in the morining but im pretty sure I have it plugged in okay. I have taken it to two mechanics, both of them drove it. The first one could'nt duplicate it, and the second just got a hint of what it does. He recommended the plugs and wires. I ended up doing those myself. Im thinking its the fuel pump on its way out.
