I have to change the lugs on a 2002 eclipse GT.

Same process as the 3000GT?

I take the plenum off to get to the rear three plugs?

Thanks,
~Eric

I have not taken a very long look at this motor I changed the starter in a parking lot at midnight. That would be the extent of me actually looking at this particular engine.

Does the intake plenum need to be removed in order to get to the rear plugs?

Ok, Plenum comes off.

Anything else I should be concerned about? Any thing substantially different for a 3000 GT?

why is it that on import cars everyone seems to call it a plenum? its a intake manifold, just like the Mitsubishi anything Spyder is just a convertible.

however you are going to be happy with this post Eric, i just looked up plenum images on google, and came across this step by step procedure on how to do a spark plug replacement on a 3000gt or dodge stealth, with photos. i mean it was totally on accident, but dumb luck is sometimes the best kind right? feel free to thank me later. here is the link. Enjoy!

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...ficial%26sa%3DN

in fact i would probably copy the entire page photos and all onto a new post in the 3000 GT sub forum and pin it up so people can always have access to it.

Yes, you remove the upper manifold. While it's off, I would recommend changing your wires to, just to take care of two birds with one stone since you're already going through the effort.

Of course you know that - but I seriously doubt the vast majority of these n00bs do. :)

that is something i prefer to lie to myself about. i prefer to think anyone over the age of 16 with a sport compact car would know that, and if they don't then i would expect that their mommy or daddy bought their car for them and should not be asking any questions about modifications or fixing anything. they should say, "mommy/daddy, my cars nor running very good. will you fix it?" or " i want my car to go faster mommy/daddy, will you make it go faster?" and thats it. other than that, if they are wondering about spark plug wires i think they should contemplate kicking themselves in the FACE!!!!!!!!
