I have an 03 gts spyder with the infinity sound system in it. A few days ago it poped a couple times and then quit working. I still get sound but its very low, to the point i have to put my ear to the speaker to hear it.
Questions
1. Does the head unit have a built in amp or does it run solely on the factory amp under the seat?
2. should i be looking to replace the head unit or the amp?

Any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated thank you

i would PM bobthecow for this question he knows more about the infinity systems than anyone else i have talked to.

to tell you the truth though, if it were me. i would just replace your head unit, and bypass the infinity amp. those sound systems are crap. also while your at it i would also remove the tweeter in your dash, and replace your door speakers and your rear speakers for decent quality speakers and put in your own 4 channel amp to run your speakers.

it may not be as expensive as you think, as long as you research speaker and amp prices online, and window shop until you find a inexpensive site to buy what you want. pioneer speakers are great, pioneer premier decks are the best. as far as amps i would go with a Kenwood, or MTX.

but first speak with bobthecow.

Thanks for the input.
I have been looking into replacing the entire system but can not afford that right now. i can replace the individual components with junk yard parts if i can identify the problem.
i will message bobthecow as recommended. thanks again.

Yea I would just talk to bobthecow, he's probably the most knowledgeable about car electronics on this whole forum. He'll be able to tell you exactly what's goin on or if he doesn't know right away he'll be the one to find out for ya.

Acually the infinity sound system isnt bad.But its not the best. If u have the money to get a better system then do it.

I got a new amp and wired all my speakers because i had the money, not because i didnt like the system.
